I know most want Miller gone. I understand as he probably doesnt want to be here and he so “old” lol
It will be a long time until we can find a player with his heart and skill. I’ve already accepted he is gone but trust me we will be talking about finding a Miller years from now.

Most of us that "want" him gone see it as a timing issue. The Canucks' window and Miller's window aren't the same. You saying they'll be "talking about finding a Miller years from now" is the exact scenario: when they're ready to truly compete, they'll want someone like Miller. But if they keep Miller, he'll more than likely be on the decline at that time, and be signed to an increasingly albatross of a contract. So trading him now sets the team up better (with younger players and more cap space) for that window, when it is open.

If Miller wanted to sign a 3 year contract, I'd be all for it. But I'm assuming he's gonna want a Landeskog kind of deal.

Miller is 29 FFS. Regardless, he is gone and it will likely be a mistake

Exactly, maybe with one of the picks we get for Miller we draft our own Miller who will peak with the rest of the team.

He's actually 28 with a March birthday (per CapFriendly), but when his current contract is up he'll be 30. So signing a 30 year old to an 8 year contract? That's what a lot of people have derided on these boards – and have chided management for not selling high on players before they drop off. So this is the exact scenario with Miller: a player with a HUGE value that could help fill a lot of holes on the team and set them up for their actual window. Or you keep a guy that will be great for the next 4 or 5 years tying up a lot of cap and then turns more into an anchor with a lot of years left on his deal.

Imagine what we could have got for Kesler before he had a NTC and demanded a trade.
