Isn't it just a giant construction site these days, anyways?

Maybe we could get them to crash their trucks into 24 Sussex Drive. It wouldn't take much to destroy it altogether, and then we can finally build a new one.

What a franking disgrace. Politicians of all parties should be ashamed.

this whole thing is just so dumb. dont want Canada to tell them to be double vax to return to Canada...but the US required you to be double vax to enter the US.

what am I missing here

At the end of the day, it's about anger and helplessness I think. You have so many factors at play here that it feels more like a combination of things than any one real thing. That's why they keep boiling it down to:

"It's about your freedom. We're doing this for you."
"Oh. No thank you. You can go home now."

But it turns out that doesn't work.

This feels like a fight against COVID, against vaccines, against mandates, against masks, against Liberals, against income insecurity, against job insecurity, against, against, against . . . my mother-in-law is 3x vaxxed but she's in favour of what the truckers are doing because she hates all things Trudeau. "I hated his f'n father, and I hate that little sh*t turd, c****ucker," insert insane vitriol rant that continues in that vein. I swear to God, he could somehow stumble upon the cure for all Cancers and she would refuse to take it because she wouldn't acknowledge he was good for anything.

I mentioned to her yesterday that this group was partially funded and organized by shady people who have hosted counter protests to anti-racist protests, people who run anti-Islam groups, anti-LGBTQ groups -- and that didn't phase her at all. Trudeau is a coward and he has this coming, apparently.

Anyone watching Canada vs. Honduras?

Our second goal was unbelievable.

- Atomic Wedgie

It really was. I grew up a big soccer nerd - even throough the constant pain of being a Canadian national team fan.

This team is legit. Building nicely for the past 2 years ...great results. Should have always been a favourite to make the WC out of Concacaf. They'll be in 22' and 26' so time to get on the bus!

GTA was always fun to play….

And I see they got a good site…. 905 band name based out of where they’re based or something (ie: the hammer)

Sincere question… looks like they’d be a blast to see, always loved playing with horn players myself

- Dozzer

I believe Burlington? He went from solo too a trio (The Harvest Moon Trio) which still did mostly Neil Young but mixed in some other stuff like Blue Rodeo and Stone Temple Pilots.

I think they merged with an existing group called the 905 Band that had all the horns. Looking forward to seeing them again once stuff finally opens

Yep, and it’s easy to write this off as stupid fringe stuff until it’s not. That’s what happened in the States and the crazies took over a mainstream political party and now they’re banning books and setting up hotlines to report teachers who make little Johnny uncomfortable by teaching him about slavery or the Holocaust.

We’re at the cute stupid people stage here. Hopefully that’s as far as it goes.

I still remember the game where we qualified for '86 - played in Newfoundland in a snow squall. Poor bastards from Honduras were just trying to survive.

Canadian men's soccer hasn't been worth watching since then...until now.

It's a damn shame there's no spectators for Saturday's game. 25 years of poop soccer has left me pessimistic, so I'm going to hope for a tie against the US - but Panama lost last night, so we just have to keep the train on the tracks for the next five games and we are in.

There were actually a set of secret tunnels built under the Parliament buildings for escape down to the Ottawa River. I don’t know if they were maintained or if everyone reading this is going to have to be eliminated to keep the secret safe.

Sorry

So many issues would be non-issues if the people would just go get their vax shot..

Holy (frank), I am not understanding these people at all.....

Dragging this mess on for years....

...or simply understand that you live in a dominion .. a community .. a democracy. Which, very simply, results in you being on the side of the majority, sometimes ...and the side of the minority sometimes. We give up some individual freedoms to live in a community.

it's the Left's fault, too.

The existing capitalist system in the US is broken. There's so much anger out there, and the Democrats are only appealing to a thin demographic.

The story is that Bill Clinton looked at Hillary's campaign platform, and informed her there was nothing in it to help middle-aged white guys who needed help. His point was ignored.

The best explanation I've ever seen of this was (believe it or not) is an episode of the show Black-ish:

Ya, the pessimism runs deep for sure. But this group is going to change that. The video's of Fonzie watching the game was great.

And the Yanks come to town on Sunday afternoon ...and I think it's 50% capacity ~12000.

I mostly agree. The economic system is completely (frank)ed but so too is the political system in how money controls things. My only small difference is in equating the Left with the Democratic Party. What’s considered to be radical left down there is mostly pushing for things we have and take for granted here. It’s astounding how so much of that country have been convinced that things that are in their best interests are so evil.
