Does Nick Robertson wear a Leaf uniform this year? Is it only possible if multiple pieces are moved at the deadline?

We'll see in a few days.

I heard there are convoys lined up at the border coming from the States according to a trucker I know.

- Santo_44

You know they can't enter unless they are fully vaxxed, right?

Of course, you do know you don't have to be unvaccinated to show support right?

We have accepted this for the last 2 years. Brutally done by Canada

That is true as well, Ontario specifically.

I admit I have not always been fully up to date with the other provinces.

And you don't have to be an Ottawa Senators fan to buy a Senators hat and jersey, put them on, and go to an Ottawa Senators game and cheer them on wildly.

But c'mon, Santo, let's get realistic here.

Nobody is double-vaxxed, but opposes the mandates, and is going to take a five-day vacation from work to drive to the 2nd coldest national capital on earth, all to take part in a protest that makes you look like an idiotic frankhead.

My friends and I had tickets prior to the restrictions, they sent us a message saying it was now 50% capacity with a code to get new tickets. I can no longer go but Im pretty sure they got some tickets and it will be half filled.

Ok folks - we've allowed lots of conversation and debate here about non-hockey things like:

Neil Young vs Joe Rogan / free speech etc.

Trucker Convoy vs JT / Vax/Anti-Vax etc.

Provincial restrictions & impacts etc.

I would just ask that everyone avoid making it personal if you disagree with someone else's point of view and stay away from the name calling of those you disagree with or those associated with their POV. It just can (does sometimes) take the debate to a place of unnecessary confrontation and it can happen quickly.

Debate away, just do so without going to the name calling or spending so much effort to diminish or discredit / insult the other person in an effort to invalidate their perspective.

Hope that makes sense? I'm just seeing an escalation in the use of clever / insulting names being used for groups and people and if we want to allow the healthy debate to continue that stuff needs to stop.

I don't want to list all the examples, everyone here has seen them and is smart enough to know what I'm referring to.

Thx

Oh (frank) off

There will be extremests and complete right winged people in this, just as there are complete lefties that don't represent pro vaccinators. Does not represent the whole and its ignorant of you to say so.

- Santo_44

This was 100% about the mandate, initially, and they had a somewhat debatable but at least understandable position with concerns about the supply chain.

It got hijacked by a bunch of "freedom" folks though, which is why so many truckers dropped out of the thing.

Kingston police counted 17 full tractor-trailer units. 107 trucks without trailers, 400 or so passenger cars and 6 RVs.

That barely even registers on the daily traffic load for the 401.

Nah sorry man, plenty of vaccinated are on board with this. Or at least understand and can take out certain aspects and apply it to your own opinion. No reason to think you have to be complete left or right here.

As a 20 year-old straight white male when I went to Futures, I can absolutely attest that what I said is exactly what happened. I typed 110 words per minute without an error, and received 100% on each of the subsequent tests. I left that office knowing that they hadn't received a candidate who had done that well on the tests - they said so. I was positive I was going to land something.

And the pamphlet I received is also true. It was never broadcast as a plan with a focus, but that pamphlet made it very clear that there was an agenda and I was not on it. It was also a plan started by the NDP. You can read between the lines on that and think I'm an a-hole, but I honestly have no problem with that type of program existing - just tell people so that they can direct their efforts more effectively.

I think the idea of government training / retraining / placement programs are an excellent idea. People lose those jobs in industries that fade - find ways to help them help and find themselves again; my wife's uncle worked in a paper mill in New Brunswick and when it shut down he was definitely feeling lost, used up and done - people like that need a step up. If we need specialized programs to help with the placement for immigrants then do it. Again, people want to work and want to live, so there should be ways to help them do it if they're struggling and in some cases there might require specialized programs for it. Just make it clear what the purpose of a program is!

- Monkeypunk

I’m not trying to call you anything. I’m just providing some facts about that program. It wasn’t a program for marginalized youth or for racial minorities. It was a youth employment program. It’s goal was to get jobs for kids. It was up to employers to actually hire kids. The fact that a pamphlet promoted the fact that it succeeded in getting jobs for minorities doesn’t change what it was set up to do.

Saskatchewan has no gathering restrictions whatsoever, but we do require proof of vaccination to visit restaurants, bars, theaters, etc. We're also only testing symptomatic people or ones who have tested positive on a rapid test and our test positivity rate is at nearly 50% with like .1% of our total population testing positive every day.

Yes this is true, but there are always people who take things too far either way.

And there are multiple convoys, unless the convoy can magically transport to all these provinces at once A big one just went through Fredericton yesterday.

Fox news was estimating 50,000 trucks on their way!

If those are standard 50ft decks, that would be a line of trucks that would literally stretch across all of Saskatchewan and Manitoba. Let's not be stupid here.

I prefer the method that that astronut did when she drove across the US to kill her husband's wife - just wear a diaper. So much more convenient.

As per the idea that there are multiple convoys - Ottawa was specifically chosen as the Nation's capital because there's only one road in an out. Anyone taking the 417 will die trying to reach Ottawa.
