Two very notable things were confirmed with today's press conference. One is that Scott is not just a figure head. He is involved daily in hockey decisions. The other is that the country club, is very much involved on a regular basis and are not just ceremonial.

you think he overrules fletchs decisions? how exactly is he involved in decisions.

After hearing that PC, I’m convinced they will go big for high end talent in UFA. I can see Johnny g coming on an overpay….

It was completely predictable. They'll make a run at somebody like Gaudreau and Klingberg or whoever makes it to free agency. They'll likely try and move up in the draft if they can.

The most egregious part of it was what Scott answered in how to get the fans back interested. His answer was incompetent.

It was almost exactly what I expected. I just don’t understand the idea of re tooling. Jettison g and the ufa s and replace them with more ufa s.

Perhaps they get a good prospect for g which they can insert in a year. I think they’re just going to essentially take a mulligan on the year. Theoretically, if all the injured players come back and play to expectation, they could make the playoffs next year. Nice but not a contender I don’t think.

They are completely disconnected from reality. Scott may be a nice guy, obviously has some kind of business savvy but as a guy running a hockey team. He is a complete buffoon. I hate to be disrespectful like that. He stated that he's giving Fletcher a blank check. A blank check to a GM that hasn't built a dam thing in over 12 years as a GM. When you read what Scott says about the moves Fletcher has made, it's frightening. What Scott answered when asked about getting the fans back was incompetent and brain dead.

I’m impatient but I don’t see anything getting sorted before end of next year maybe. But then they might get rid of fletch. If they don’t go big into free agency and compile more picks, then maybe there is a path forward. It’s a confusing mess.

The only thing Scott can’t control about the organization is fan attendance. If people want him gone, they need to stay away from games. The “we got this” shtick won’t wear well if that happens.

These two...

Talk about being blind, deaf, and dumb all at once, and together at that! Next to them, Tweedledee and Tweedledum are lovable rocket surgeons. And the only apparent talent I sense with DS & CF is that they think they're too good at putting lipstick on a pig. What balls!

But we know better...

I'm now at the point: To hell with it. Let it burn, come what may, just so these nitwits can learn some humility!

With the current leadership in place, I do not think that the Flyers will field a competitive team until at least the 26/27 season - and that is after these asshats get canned in the 22/23 or 23/24 season

Good teams dont usually fall apart when injuries happen to key players, imo. Look at Tampa without Kucherov and Point this year. Their first cup without Stamkos.Pens: this year and past. How many times has Malkin carried the team when Crosby is out? They won their 2nd cup with a rag tag defense. Look at Florida without Ekblad last year. Look at Isles without Lee last year.....

They might be worse, miss a beat. Not just plummet. Thats usually the sign of a team held together with the tape of excessive expectations.

Holmgren comes around periodically but is no longer involved day-to-day as he once was.

Clarke had seriously scaled down his involvement pre-Chuck -- spent a lot of time in Florida -- but got more involved again when Chuck came aboard. They are close.

Bill Barber's role, at least a few years ago, was largely to help get Dave Scott up to speed on the hockey operations facet of NHL orgs after Ed Snider died. I know Billy is still there and see him around not infrequently (especially before the season) but I am not sure what his exact involvement is at present.

Dean Lombardi is very tight with Clarke and is also close with Hextall -- one they do have in common-- and, of course had lengthy NHL GM experience. See him around when everyone comes in for the big meetings.

Dave Scott just tweeted that attendance is down because up until today they haven’t accepted Dogecoin.

Not sure why people keep saying stuff like that about Snider. He was the owner when they were the worst team in the league in 06-07, and the owner during the extremely underwhelming 12-13 and 14-15 seasons.
- Feanor

Correct me if I'm wrong, didn't Snider also see to it that Dave Scott was his "heir apparent" as the face of ownership?

Bold-Yeah, reading the comments I have been thinking that I must just have lower expectations than others about what the business guy and GM-speak sound like. There were definitely moments I felt like Fletcher thought Scott was saying too much or perhaps could be misleading.

I think the retool is mostly about using the young core we have Hart, Farabee and Provy along with a few vets like Coots to build around. Also keeping the prospects and young players that can fit.

See when we talk about a competitive team, I think the opposite. I have no doubt that if Ellis, Hayes and Couturier can come back healthy, they can build a competitive team. The can build a team that can make the playoffs and possibly do that pretty quick. Is that the objective though? Not for me. The measuring stick for me is Carolina, Florida, Colorado, etc. The elite teams in the league. That is the goal and I have zero doubt that the Flyers approach won't get them there.

They are saddled with the worst cap situation in the league. They have numerous immovable contracts. Tearing down is going to be exceedingly difficult to impossible. I can understand that. I cant get on board with any big UFA signings for the next 3 years. This nonsense has to stop
