It’s terrible PR management. This fanbase isn’t stupid. Long time fans who have watched this team can smell the stink.

He damaged their image a hell of a lot more than helped it today. I’m not sure who he believes will fall in line with their views that as is well?

They will try, and aggressively retool for next season it seems. The inability to realize what a mistake that is, is astounding.

I did think the answer regarding G was kind of weird. Chuck basic put it on G whether he’s going to be traded or not. Now Giroux will spend the next two months answering that question every night.

Chuck should’ve just said yes. It’s common sense to move the guy as a rental at this point.

giroux will get massive hate from the fans if he doesn't waive

Look, he's the face of the ownership of the team, and he doesn't want to go through a 3, 4 or 5 year rebuild, who would? He is going to put a positive spin on where the team is and frankly I don't think he is that far off. I do not believe this team will contend next year as Dave Scott said it would, but I also don't believe it will take 5 years either given that I believe this team has good players to build around. Chuck is right, this team needs top-end talent and its refreshing that the GM said it about a dozen times today.
- jd250

Cant wait to see how the GM acquires this top end talent.

The top three D are fine, but I believe you are vastly overestimating the abilities of the rest. Couturier would be the 3C on most competitive teams and Carter Hart cannot be considered a competent 1G. A full rebuild is the only option for a return to respectability.
- Jackie Daytona

Tell me what competitive team has a 30 goal, 70 point Selke winning 3rd line center?
Hart is not a competent starting goalie?

Hey, I thought things were pretty bad with 10 and 13 game losing streaks and a team that is really unwatchable. But hey after that press conference, I feel refreshed. Like a breath of fresh air. The GM knows that we need more top end talent. All is good.

One is going to be able to see who the real idiots of society are very soon.

A message needs to be sent by the fanbase that we will not stand for this.

Whoever is going to attend these games under Scott is not a fan of what this team once was, or wants a positive future.

I love this statement from Fletcher because its really true, this team should be playing better than they are and Chuck has got to figure out why.
- jd250

I'll save Chuck some time. It's you Chuck and the guy sitting next to you!

Oh stop ... he could have just sat there and farted and you would say he was incompetent. You just don't like Dave because he said this which was a direct slap to your man Hextall!

DS: "I like the way he's built this organization. I've worked with predecessors. I like Chuck's style. I think he's collaborative. I like what we did going into this season. On paper, it looked really solid. Look, injuries happen. No excuses but it did happen. I think we have more than anybody I've seen. I just saw the

- jd250[man games lost] numbers and we're right at the top."

Thanks for making my case for me.

Except he can't move him if Giroux doesn't waive.

I saw it as Chuck putting some pressure on G publicly that they’d like to trade him and waiting for him to say yes.

Not enough honestly. Place still looks packed compared to a Devils or Isles game.
- hereticpride

I think a decline in season ticket holders will be the real wake up call. I have friends who can’t give tickets away. So if the renewals drop off hard this off season maybe they will stop blowing smoke up are a$$’$

Scariest part is they probably think Kevin Hayes, broken down Ryan Ellis and Rasmus Ristolainen are top end talents...

Any worse then what he is getting now? Besides he will only have to put up with it for a month then go where he wants for 3 or 4 yrs as a UFA

Same. And if they hadn't already had discussions with Giroux and his agent, this was a pretty crappy way of letting him know.

Dont think pressure is going to get him to waive. What does he have to lose if he doesn't waive a 1 in 16 shot at a cup. Really only he knows what he is going to do and I am sure that decision has been made already
