The top three D are fine, but I believe you are vastly overestimating the abilities of the rest. Couturier would be the 3C on most competitive teams and Carter Hart cannot be considered a competent 1G. A full rebuild is the only option for a return to respectability. - Jackie Daytona
Couturier is not a 3rd C........ He is almost a PPG player with two 76 point seasons. The last 2 seasons he was on pace for 70 points as well. This season he is only on pace for 48 points however clearly he was dealing with some sort of injury

Nostalgia goggles, pure and simple. Snider wouldn't have made this situation any better. It would still be the same 47 year hamster wheel of futility and stupid moves. - Tomahawk
Stockholm syndrome playing out, again. This press conference shows that our captors know it and rely on it. |

I am not sure how you can say that about Couturier when the statistics don't match up. Is he first line center , most likely not but I also think he would slide right in as a second line center.
I also am not ready to say that about Hart yet given that this is what his second full season in the NHL?

What would you look for in a combo trade of Konecny and MacEwen? - washedup20
2nd Round pick and cap space. |

I did think the answer regarding G was kind of weird. Chuck basic put it on G whether he’s going to be traded or not. Now Giroux will spend the next two months answering that question every night.
Chuck should’ve just said yes. It’s common sense to move the guy as a rental at this point. |

I asked what would be ideal and was told MacEwen is worthless so it’s essentially a 1st round pick for Konecny while taking on a cap dump, which seems reasonable. - washedup20
MacEwen is a player who got waived by a bad team, was claimed by a terrible team, and now has 3 points in 41 games. You shouldn't need anyone to tell you he's worthless, it's obvious.

Q: Did you bring injured players back too soon? Are you investigating your medical staff? It looks bad on the outside.
CF Answer: Um, you know, there's been a little bit of bad luck, I guess.
All Chuckles has to do is get a rabbit's foot, pick a 4 leaf clover, and throw a penny in a wishing well and that problem is solved.
This guy couldn't be a bigger clown if he worked for Ringling Brothers.
-PLindburgh31
Let's put the full answer Chuck gave, not just the one line you want to use that fits your narrative!
"We've had conversations with the doctors. I don't know that players have come back too soon. Um, you know, there's been a little bit of bad luck, I guess. A couple of these injuries are a little complicated where the player feels pretty good and then gives it a try and something can re-aggravate it. So, well, look, certainly it's been tough. And you're right. There has been re-occurrence in a couple of cases, and that's something you want to avoid.
So, again, as I said, everything's on the table. We're definitely going to look at it. Just, in season here, there's only so much you can kind of do in the moment. But the questions are being asked, and certainly we'll dig into it." |

See, to me that's the kind of thing that's a giveaway. Why does a guy like Dave Scott, a corporate storage, who probably has a "best practices"chart stuck above his desk, need to say that?
To me it's because they believe that the market will not sustain a 3-year rebuild. - PT21
Look, he's the face of the ownership of the team, and he doesn't want to go through a 3, 4 or 5 year rebuild, who would? He is going to put a positive spin on where the team is and frankly I don't think he is that far off. I do not believe this team will contend next year as Dave Scott said it would, but I also don't believe it will take 5 years either given that I believe this team has good players to build around. Chuck is right, this team needs top-end talent and its refreshing that the GM said it about a dozen times today. |

- THE BLACK HAND
Why? People act like it's sacrilege.
How about a cursive PHI across the front and that stupid P on the sleeve?
And how about you add SILVER as a fourth color to get away from the same lame variations on the same design. |

So it's been extremely disappointing when we look at where I think we should be and where we are. Obviously, I'm the guy in charge. That falls on me.
-Chuck Fletcher
I love this statement from Fletcher because its really true, this team should be playing better than they are and Chuck has got to figure out why.

Dave Scott's opening statement is an exhibit of incompetence. - MJL
Oh stop ... he could have just sat there and farted and you would say he was incompetent. You just don't like Dave because he said this which was a direct slap to your man Hextall!
DS: "I like the way he's built this organization. I've worked with predecessors. I like Chuck's style. I think he's collaborative. I like what we did going into this season. On paper, it looked really solid. Look, injuries happen. No excuses but it did happen. I think we have more than anybody I've seen. I just saw the [man games lost] numbers and we're right at the top." |

The Logo and colors are Iconic. There is something to be said for tradition and history. Changing the colors and logo isnt progressive its a gimmick |

Cursive is trendy - will look out-of-date very quickly
Nicknames (Sens, Bolts) also trendy, as is shortening the city/state name (Jersey).
Last time they tried to add silver was a disaster.
Besides, changing anything about the colors/uniforms isn't going to make the team successful. It'd just be another way to squeeze money out of people. |

Honestly, neither Scott nor Fletcher said anything that any of us couldn't have said. It was all just basic stuff. Words don't matter. Actions do. I, for one, am not sure that these are the guys who can get it done.

Ok, and that's fair. So lets give them a shot to fix this and if they can't and the team is not heading in the right direction as soon as next season then I think its fair to call for them to go. Right now however, I think Fletcher deserves a chance to fix this because this team should be playing a lot better than they are. |

That's not unreasonable, however, were I running the show I'd be looking at potential GM candidates and comparing them to Fletcher. If I could find a better option I'd do it now.

What do you expect him to say? Yes our medical staff sucks? The one thing a GM or anyone for that matter does is throw someone under the bus.
Clarke did that with Hextall and it was unprofessional regardless of whether it is true or not. It is all politics. Dave Scott says Fletcher is his man but the truth of it all is he can turn around tomorrow or at the end of the season and fire him. It is all about PR - xShoot4WarAmpsx
Do you know what the best PR Scott could put out there would be? Stop acting like Flyers fans are stupid. That press conference was again, insulting.
