Dude....
- PT21

I asked what would be ideal and was told MacEwen is worthless so it’s essentially a 1st round pick for Konecny while taking on a cap dump, which seems reasonable.

Not sure why people keep saying stuff like that about Snider. He was the owner when they were the worst team in the league in 06-07, and the owner during the extremely underwhelming 12-13 and 14-15 seasons.
- Feanor

It's just frustration venting that never changes. I vividly remember folks on this and other forums posting that Flyers would never win another cup with Snyder at the helm. That he was too loyal to alums, too nepotistic to former Flyers, too meddling in day-to- day operations and he should sell the team.

Would it be possible to attach additional assets to our bad contract players just to get rid of them?
- DrMidnite

Sure -- look at how the got rid of Ghost - who BTW, would be much better than iron man ky

Would like to say thanks to the media team for making the questions a little harder hitting at times.

A big “(frank) you” to Dave Scott, who has no clue how to oversee a professional sports team.

These fools think they can aggressively retool, and avoid a much needed rebuild. Fans just don’t buy the poop they are shovelling anymore.

- FlyerFan3260

Realistically a retool might the only option as much as I dont want to admit. Flyers have a youngish team.

Prov, Sanheim, York, Zamula, Frost, Lindblom, Konecny, Farabee and Hart are all young

Guys like Couturier, Hayes, Ellis and Atkinson are probably not going anywhere

JVR, Giroux, Braun, Jones, Ristolainen are guys probably moved most off all players in their late 30s minus Ristolainen. Realistically the Flyers could fix the team with the right moves

? - Couturier - Farabee
? - Hayes - Atkinson
Lindblom - Frost - Konecny
? - Laughton - ?

Prov - Ellis
Sanheim - ?
York - Zamula

Hart

Would a late 22' 1st get it done?
- washedup20

Sure -- but with the production/term/dollars left on TK contract I am not sure many would offer that though

What’s funny is the rangers knew they needed to start over and rebuild with the yandle and Hayes of 5 years ago lol

Is there a point, with Couturier and Ellis on the fence about surgeries, that you decided NOT to try to get them back this season and to just get the surgery so they're ready next season?

CF: There's an element of that, but I think the biggest element is just what's best for the player. I mean, in a lot of cases, surgery should be the last resort. You're not rushing to have guys get surgery. If there's a way to allow the player to heal without surgery, that's what we're exploring. But, you know, ultimately, your hope is that if surgery does happen that it doesn't impact next year. We're not at that point with either player. But the driving force behind everything we do right now is doing what's best for the player and try to get them back without surgery if we can avoid it.

This kind of sounds like the Jack Eichel situation where surgery should be done but lets try to get these guys back as soon as possible.

People will laugh at Edmonton, and Buffalo but at least they had the self awareness to realize the only chance they have to compete is primarily by committing to drafting. They failed in other areas but at least had that knowledge.

Scott doesn’t even understand that basic aspect. One cannot build anything worthwhile by chasing FA’s or through trades.

It doesn’t work like that in the current NHL, and I don’t know how much more proof they need.

Nostalgia goggles, pure and simple. Snider wouldn't have made this situation any better. It would still be the same 47 year hamster wheel of futility and stupid moves.

Said a lot of the right words??? What press conference did you watch
- ClaudeFather

- When we talk about winning, it’s not just a winning record. It’s winning the Stanley Cup, being a contender.
- everything is on the table
- we need more top-end talent
- We’re looking at the front office, we’re looking at the coaching staff

The right words which, honestly, any of us could've gotten up there and said. Like I said, I don't know if they're the guys to make it happen though. (And I'm certain none of us here could. lol)

They're just going to dig the hole deeper and deeper. It'll be Arizona East and in about 3 years we'll hear "what are the top destinations for the Flyers to relocate to?"

The top three D are fine, but I believe you are vastly overestimating the abilities of the rest. Couturier would be the 3C on most competitive teams and Carter Hart cannot be considered a competent 1G. A full rebuild is the only option for a return to respectability.

They think marketing will save them, along with the glittery distractions or loud arena music.

It’s just so obvious to anyone with a brain that they have no clue what they are doing. Scott’s approach to building a champion is not going to work, and will likely continue to set the team back.

- FlyerFan3260

You will still have the sheep and yes men buying what they sell. The faction that just defends everything they do. People who alibi, rationalize, and make excuses as to why this Franchise is an abject failure.

TK is a young winger with 3 successive 20 goal seasons. His contract is not bad. 5.5 m per. No NMC. This season, on a horrific team, he is projecting to be close to a 50 point guy. His skill level is very good.

Essentially, everything about him screams of "high potential guy going through a rough patch/growing pains/bad team/immature".

To answer your question, my personal price would at minimum be: top 15 pick + decent prospect with middle 6 projections.

Nvm Zach. Irrelevant.

It would have been interesting to see how Snider dealt with present reality. In the years you reference, I think he had not internalized what it meant to be in a salary cap era.

Also, people tend to judge based not just on results but the psychological optics (manner/caring/sincerity) when taking decisions. It is well-known, for example, that patients sue doctors they like* far less than doctors they perceive as overly rational/uncaring...
