I agree that both DS and CF said a lot of the right words. I also believe that any of us could've sat in either chair and said the exact same words. - Scoob
I don't think so. What Fletcher stated yesterday was specifics, not generalizations. |

Maybe, or maybe you just want this team to fail - jd250
Yes right now they need to hit the absolute rock bottom. They need to fail in every way imaginable at this point to hope for real change.
Unlike you I also live in reality.

It's funny all the Ristolainen hate but how about guys like Sanheim and Provorov. As much as love Provorov and think he'll rebound, he hasn't been great. And When is Sanheim going to take a step forward. I feel like that is a bigger issue then what Risto provides. Those two were supposed to be anchors for us and yet I feel like the best defender this year consistently has been Braun.
What I think is a bigger issues is guys who were supposed to help this team forward just haven't been good enough. I put guys like Konecny and Lindblom in there. - J35Bacher
with all you say, but especially the highlighted. |

I read them as obvious generalizations such as (paraphrasing) "we need better players."
Well, duh, anyone can see that.

The flyers are not contending next year.
That means that in ufa there are to be no multi year deals made. End of story.
If they want to build something and win big that’s what needs to happen for multiple summers
If they want playoff revenue that’s not happening - Just5
Yes, the Flyers will not contend for a cup next year or maybe the year after, but can the Flyers become a playoff contender next year? And can they then become a playoff team the year after? I think we have to take steps to become a true Cup contender, its not going to happen in one off season without a lot of luck. |

You think they said the right words? They both agreed that the team is 2-3 pieces away. That press conference was laughable. |

Cant wait to see what Ivan does when his contract is up after 2024 season. Same with Hart

This is a good example, how many GMs will say their players are not good enough? Not many IMO. They may think it and their actions may demonstrate it, but coming right out and saying we don't have enough talent and we are trying to address this I thought was a bold statement for a GM to make. |

Oh ffs - I said "some" of the right words. I also said that any of us could've gotten up there and said those same words. That should be your hint that I thought the press conference was a waste of time. |

What do you see in Sanheim's game in the past two seasons that brings you to this conclusion? Again, what does Sanheim do well enough to be considered a consistent top 4 defenseman on a legitimate cup contender? - jd250
He's always been a net positive in xGF%. Means the team has consistently created more HQ scoring chances than they've given up while he's on the ice. There are usually only 50-70 dmen ranked above him, so he's safely a top-4 guy in the league, no matter what team you're talking about.
He's inconsistent, but his baseline is still high enough to warrant a lot of minutes. |

He is just completely underwhelming to me. Like he is just there on the ice.
I expect him to be moved after the season based on his contract status.

Guys! Did you hear? About Yandles streak???
If those reporters had any sense they would have asked CLIFF "Should Keith have been a healthy scratch at any point this year?" - DrMidnite
I wonder what its like in the locker room after he f's up and causes a goal and another loss...how many times...

Some of the right words? Like what, that they just tried to throw money into everything, or how they didn’t have an answer to why guys are getting re-injured constantly? The whole Franking thing was a joke |

He reminds me a lot of Jeff Petry (lanky, not physical, efficient puck mover, otherwise unheralded) before he blew up. Everybody in EDM thought he was soft and hopeless. It started out that way in MTL too. Then he just blew up in his 30's.
I have no idea if Sanheim can turn a corner like that. But even if he can't, he's still a decent enough player that you can just set and forget him as your #3/4. |

Come on. They added a 2nd Phantoms assistant coach and beefed up the personal department. Plan the the parade! |

I'm gonna guess they've got a pretty solid locker room dynamic for handling bungles and losses at this point. |

I'll take a Brad Ference or an Andrew Ference before I can tolerate another press conference, am I right?

So to recap....
The Flyers have a GM majority of people do not believe in
Have a current ownership group majority want to sell the team
The Flyers next coach will be who?
The Flyers have cap issues
The Flyers have a core that is not good enough
The Flyers have an oft injured, overrated prospect pool
Really looks like the future is bright doesn't it? |

If they get a 1st for G and and other for Risto and maybe a pair of mid rounder for Jones they can make some solid moves up in the draft. Idk, just looking to find some positive here.
I wonder if Conor Geekie is on their radar. 6’4” skilled center projected to go top 10. They’re really gonna need the help down the middle with G gone. I just don’t see how our struggling wingers get any better with an even worse center situation next year. |

Sure, but it's also so obvious that it would've been a problem if they didn't admit it.
I took the whole press conference as nothing more than platitudes delivered to the fans.
Don't tell me, show me.
I don't think these guys can pull it off. I'd be happy to be wrong, though.

So your basing your entire assessment of Sanhiem on his xGF%?? Have you noticed how bad the game of baseball has become? |
