Just in time for AM34 to cut the ribbons on the new arena in his brand new Yotes jersey? - mjones242
There’s lots of reporting that the new arena is in real trouble with Tempe council. The ASU arena they’re using for the next 3-4 years holds 5,000. Auston is not going to noweheresville.

using wins and era in 2022 - senstroll
Morris was a big game pitcher and would rise to the occassion more often than not. Fancy metrics and stats will not make this obvious. In the 1991 World Series, in game seven his pitching performance was about as clutch as it gets.
His pitching line for Game 7: 10 innings, seven hits, no runs, two walks, eight strikeouts and 122 pitches. It was the longest pitching performance in a seventh game of the World Series.
If wins are not so important in 2022, do you think it might draw some attention if a starting pitcher managed to get 30 wins?

How would that even work? Does the NHL even allow arenas that small? Didn't Winnipeg need to add more seating to their arena to bring the Jets back?

Morris had a good 1991 season. and that game was good. but if say he was taken out in the 9th and did not get the Win, it wouldnt change anything really. still pitched a great game.
wins really has no meaning for pitchers. If you can give up an average of 5 runs a game and win 20, and another can give up 2 and win 10... I dont see how there is any value in that stat

Even if the new arena gets the green light (a huge if), the Coyotes are still franked.
They are about to embark on a two-year renovation of the Gila River Arena:
Give credit to Bettman - nobody is talking about this. It's a complete franking disaster that's only eight months away.
If anyone is proposing trades for the Leafs obtaining Chychrun, make sure you include David Clarkson's contract - because the Coyotes are going to have to have an actual payroll of less than $20M for the next few years.

Because the calculation takes out the human element and insists it doesn't exist. There was something about guys like Dave Stewart and Jack Morris - their teams _played_ for them. They got run support. When they were on the mound the teams hit the ball. I remember in 1987, Jimmy Key had a 2.76 ERA and went 17-8. He never won 20, but he deserved to - I love command pitchers, but anyway - you still have to factor in that their teams won those games. You have to pitch well enough to beat the other guy and Jack Morris and Dave Stewart did that a lot, despite giving up a lot of runs.
Wins should not have the credence that it does in terms of valuation, but it is a meaningful stat when looking at a pitcher. I feel similarly about batting average, strikeouts and so on. Like some of the stats I loathe are, "Park Adjusted ERA". You know what? The guy doesn't f'n pitch in a different park, so you don't know how he would have pitched there. Baseball's advanced stats are great but some of the nerd stats make assumptions like athletes aren't making adjustments for their current environment - and then the nerds like go and get condescending about how great their new stats are. Those nerds can cram it. I'm happy with my current level of nerd.

You guys are selling me on an air fryer. But I still have a dehydrator I used twice. I don't want to add to my appliance museum. I do use my instant pot, Vitamix and sodastream constantly though.

I feel like the Blue Jays have had many, many very good players compared to how many Series they've won. That their great player to title ratio is among the most unbalanced in sports. Do you feel this is a fair observation. Thanks for your shares. Your Leafy friend, Zezel.

i use my sodastream every day
we have a magic bullet that i use occasionally when I need to puree something, though most of the time i just use the immersion blender
we have 2 slow cookers which is actually really convenient, use those a lot
we have a breakfast sandwich maker which is actually a brilliant little appliance, highly recommend, especially if there's guests staying over and you're making them breakfast
we have a kitchenaid mixer which doesn't get much use but trying to change that with sausage making and pasta making attachments
tbh the only other thing I'd want I think is a pressure cooker for quick stews, but don't really need any more appliances... air fryers just make me want real deep fried food in the end
the best investment is get a good gas stove that does air frying and dehydrating

I've watched few world series. That pitching performance was not good - it was amazing. Pitching a complete game 10 inning shutout only happened once ever in MLB history in a game 7 in the World Series. Of the 40 World series game 7s there were only 9 complete game shutouts. The most remarkable ones were probably 1965 where Sandy Kofax 3-hit the Twins and in 1934 when Dizzy Dean pitched a 6 hit shutout on one day of rest. Wins are important, and there have only been 40 game seven wins in MLB history.

I think a lot of it depends on what you cook / how you cook. My best intention is to do more stuff with my crock pots or instant pot. I use the crock pots to keep things warm that I cook elsewhere, and I use the instant pot for hard boiling eggs. That's it.
We had a bullet, which we used - we got a Ninja blender / mixer thing, that also let you attach a single mixing cup for shakes and stuff - so it was sort of an all-in-one replacement, but we also found this type of thing is useful.
I have a soda stream that I have used a lot, but it's not an every day thing for us. I found that it was almost encouragement for me to have more vodka which I don't feel was my goal.
We have the same mixer - the big honking thing that takes a crane to lift. I use it for baking (cookies, muffins, cupcakes, cakes, etc.) but not much else.
For the air fryer - I will say that there are times I want to air fry something and bake or roast something else (like let's say I want cauliflower wings - those are great air fried - but am also cooking a roast or pulled pork or something that just needs to be cooked in an oven ), then having the separate appliance is nice and it was around $350, I think, whereas a new oven would run you in the $1500 range.

How good is the sodastream brah. I mix cherry with cola or with root beer. I (frank)ing love the sodastream.
If you want a slow cooker, get an instant pot. It is a slow cooker, pressure cooker, steamer, sauté thingy, rice cooker. Automated pressure cooking is so awesome.
I want a sandwich press. My waffle iron broke. Homemade waffles are the hand of God.
