I just did some back reading, damn... yeah, well said, I second this 100%.

but this would've hindered the team's current mission of falling to the bottom of the standings. also, Couturier and Ellis are potentially out for the season, so you have excuses.

All the changes Chuck has made in the off-season was supposedly to improve the team "culture" (WTF that really means). I want the culture to get worse. Evander can still play some decent hockey but it's not going to work when the rest of the healthy part of the team sucks (save for G and Atkinson), so any pluses he brings will be negated. More importantly his off-ice shenanigans will be too much of a distraction for this new and improved culture the Flyers supposedly have. Also, many of the fans wouldn't like it. I want more to revolt against everyone running that team. However, there have been a small faction over at Meltzer's blog here that have wanted him over the past 2-3 seasons. I wish I could tell them, "Be careful watch you wish for, you just might get it." The ones who wanted Hextall gone and the team to wheel and deal and spend to the cap are just realizing now what that means.

this reminds me of the attitude that a lot of habs fans had or still have towards the team. wouldn't you rather though have a GM and coaching change, and try to turn things around and compete before blowing it up?

There's already been a coaching change (and too many more in the last decade). And a GM change 3+ years ago. Problem is I'm not confident in the current guy the least bit and he's not budging until he (frank)s up some more (his boss is too much of a hockey bozo to realize how bad our GM is because of the flawed influence of Clarke, Holmgren, and the other chummy Good Ol' Boys still in "advisory" positions). I want it to happen faster, as I have no faith that he's going to improve anything anyway. Look at his record in Minn.

PS: I'm pretty sure the Flyers are headed for a complete rebuild even if the current management isn't trying. I just don't want these guys around when that rebuild starts cause I know they'll (frank) it up.

there's a whole bunch of ex-players still around but they were pretty much only doing "ambassadorship" type of stuff for the fans before the pandemic hit. When Hextall was there, he cut-them off from having too much contact with the roster at the time, which pissed some of them off (but I understand cause he didn't want too many of them meddling with developing players or be an unnecessary distraction). But Homer and Clarke still have official advisory status, even though they really haven't been hands-on at all once Fletcher was hired. I don't think there are any others in an official advisory status, and probably all the "ambassadors" just don't care too much anymore even after Hexy was canned.

I'm sure Daniel Brière will do a fine job of bringing back the team on a more glorious path.

I though I saw somewhere (here?) the rumour that the Flyers barred him from interviewing in Montreal but Meltzer said he did actually interview with the team's OK. I'd rather him get more experience as an Asst GM or a GM somewhere else before he gets such a big promotion from the ECHL.
