If it is Washington, I hope they get Lapiere back as compensation, as he was who I hoped the Hawks drafted, but they took Reichel instead. Only problem with Laoiere is he seems to be injury prone. Whatever else has to happen to make the dollars work is okay by me.

If a deal is viable to trade Fleury to the Capitals, I would also start with asking for Lapierre and maybe a mid-round pick (i.e. 3rd) as well but would be fine with just Lapierre.

He was on my short list of picks before the Hawks selected Reichel. Of course, I love the Reichel pick now. However, I liked Lapierre a lot at the time and still do today.

Lapierre's potential as a top 6 center is pretty high and he may be better than whoever the Hawks could select in the latter end of the 1st round of the 2022 draft.

Sure, Lapierre was taken in the late 1st round in 2020 but he was rated much higher and even top 10 at one point before his health issues hurt his stock.

With most trade scenarios, I would want the 1st round pick unless the other team is willing to part with one of their top prospects instead. Or 2nd round pick if the prospect is sure-fire NHLer but not necessarily a blue chipper.
