If Connelly were acquired off waivers, then Chicago has more cap space to cover Fluery"s contract should that be inclusive in the settlement of batering. I mean, some give and take in trade talks often occurs, so Connnely's departure could help in moving Fluery.

Of course this waivers move could also.be just to give e Connelly an opportunity to play NHL since he wasn't apparently more than merely deph for Chicago.

- jhawk59

I don't think the move is related at all with moving MAF. Hawks can retain 50% of his salary maximum. That's it. No amount of extra cap space changes that.

Connelly is on waivers because he has to be in order to reassigned to Rockford.

Connelly picked up on waivers is never going to happen. We did Florida a huge favor by taking this guy on and he still has another year left on his contact.

This I think^^^

This perhaps also mean that T. Johnson might be close to returning? He's be a huge upgrade to the line-up.

I am kinda scratching my head about these lineup proposals that move Lafferty away from Toews. To my eye they have had some real chemistry from the first game together. Toews has to appreciate the battling, speed, and hockey IQ Lafferty brings. I see him as the best compliment to Toews in a long time. Imagine them in more of a 3rd line role than a 2nd.
I don't know their high danger chances together, but I would bet their pretty good.

- GreenJeans

Solve that problem by moving Dach to wing on Toews line and Borgstrom to center on third line. Lafferty can roll with Carpenter and Enwhistle on the 4th line.

Another move happening?

No, since Connolly was on the roster and taxi squad, he needs to be put on waivers to be sent back to Rockford, nothing more, nothing less. I seriously doubt anyone claims him.

In a recent Athletic article, Scott Powers shared that Davidson is more open to buyouts than Bowman was. Powers postulated that Connolly and T Johnson are likely candidates to be bought out if Davidson decides to go that route.

KD can also use the fact that some players will be put on waivers as taxi squads disappear after the all star break. Claim someone on waivers and flip them at the TDL.

Sounds to me that while Davidson may interview for the GM position, he has little chance of actually getting the job. My guess will be that he remains as Assistant GM when they bring a new person in.

GM will report to Danny. No President of Hockey Ops. KD is a candidate. Candidates include those outside of hockey.

That last one is a hoot. Maybe they will hire a GM from the English Premier League.

Or Theo Epstein......

Some good news for Rico:

In addition, we are planning on hosting a townhall-style meeting next week with our fans, partners, staff and media to further explain the greater vision of the Chicago Blackhawks. Details on that are to follow.

Well he states that they want to decide before the trade deadline. I assume he means 2022.

"This top to bottom exercise revealed an incredible amount of in-house talent..."

Another quote from Danny's statement. How could this possibly be the case? Weren't all these pukes hired by Stan, who is a known moron? The Soccer Gurus don't know hockey!

Our next step is to find the right leader, and we will begin to reach out to potential candidates this week to interview for the General Manager role. That position will be the highest-ranking executive in Hockey Operations and will report directly to me.

Think you are correct, Trob. If the top hockey mind in the organIzation is the GM and he will report to Danny (the guy who extended and promoted Stanley) you'd assume the GM will be an experienced hockey guy. I thought if they had a seasoned head of hockey ops you could go with a young green brainiac like KD with the hockey prez serving as his safety net.

But then Danny Boy goes on to say they will look outside the sport of hockey too to fill the GM job and that position will be "highest-ranking executive in Hockey Operations".

So taking him at his word he may hire a brainiac from the world of soccer, football, hoops, rodeo, auto racing or baseball as GM/top hockey mind in the organIzation but don't you be worried cuz he'll report to Danny Boy and with his hockey acumen everyding will be alright.

And in lawyer-speak he certainly did not specify which TDL he hopes to have the hire done by, did he?

Well, imo, we shouldn't be too caught up in the titles yet. We could have the experienced President type many have written about, with genius whippersnappers underneath.

That said, this statement is corporate-speak mumbo jumbo that I've seen all too often. I know I have a bias, but it feels like the Soccer peeps thing and the council is mere marketing window dressing aimed at fans. It is gonna boil down to whether Danny can hire the right person. Just my take.

I can just see it now....hire a GM from outside hockey right before the TDL and tell them "git er dun".

Oh man, Laz has probably got a handful of Viagra kinda woody. ......... True story, Chunk. I've had season tix since 2008 and every time I went to a game when the boys played Detroilet I had two 100 dollar bills stashed for bail money to slip to my bud to get me out. There were some obnoxious filthy fans that come from that armpit in Michigan.

As feeble as I am now no worries anymore but just the same I'd pass on the town hall.

Did I miss something, Mo? As Danny explained it the GM will be the top hockey mind and he'll report to Danny. I take that to mean there will be no prez of hockey ops unless he gives the GM dual titles of GM/Prez of Hockey Ops like he did with Stanley (oh God) when he promoted him last summer.
