Hot Dog loving Kessel is only like 40 games behind him I think...it's happening
- TPC

Kessel has also never been scratched in the playoffs when the streak doesn't matter.

There isnt just one trade needed. Too many holes to fill, the usual trade pieces everyone talks about have reduced value due inconsistent play. Nils, Chytil, etc so If we do add a significant piece it might wind up being KK or Laf or Miller traded. Going all in on rentals is a very risky move if they dont win the Cup!! Four or the top 6 are producing and 3 of our 6 defense man are solid. We have one of the top 3 goaltenders in the world. The rest have been inconsistent. Playoffs are a different game, no telling what will happen.

Four years of missing the playoffs and rebuilding to winning the Cup would be very unusual.

The only reason they’ll make a push this year is bc of their cap space. If they add a depth defenseman and top 6 forward I don’t think that empty’s the cupboard. Blais could be back for a PO run as well

Miller is my number 1 target
- TPC

I’m good with either Pavelski for a first or Miller for Chytil, prospect, first (cap retained)

And then one other trade that either bolsters the bottom 6 or third pair

Most definitely!! But think about the cost of a JT Miller. he isnt on an expiring contract and would cost more than a first, Chytil and Kravs possibly?? Hertl? I would think somewhere around the same price. Then you still need to add a 5/6 d man and still have to hope the third and forth line starts to produce.
- Brukie

So, the cost of acquiring a guy who fills basically every need we have could be a draft pick that very likely would be 20th or later, a guy who is under achieving and a guy that doesn't want to play for us, and you still think its a bad idea???
I just don't understand what move you could ever possibly think is ok.
Is the team never to make a trade again?

Blais would likely not be ready to go for the playoffs.

there's never going to be a time where they will be comfortable dressing both Zac Jones and Nils Lundkvist at the same time

one of them should be a trade chip

I'd honestly rather they go pure rental with all of their moves.

I'm gonna go with Nils simply because the current and future right side is all in place right now. Jones can still crack the lineup.

I say we go for Miller and Strome just to (frank) with Sam

He's gonna have a hard time remembering who is related or not.

Nils not off to the blistering start in Hartford that I expected. Just 1 assist in 6 games.

Not saying he should be at a PPG, but a little surprised by that.

Jones has 18 points in 24 games. Kid really could be a LH Foxy-lite.

Honestly I'm starting to wonder if the answer for that third pairing D is already here. Jones and Schneider seem like a solid pair that would be familiar with each other. Bring Jones up and see how they do at the NHL level together. Have the Rangers had them on the roster at the same time?

I don't think they feel comfortable with two rookies together

they want Schneider playing with a vet

hopefully they want a better vet than Nemeth by the deadline though

Who could they realistically be targeting? I don't see how Chychrun fits at all. Cost prohibitive to acquire and how do they fit his salary?

Too bad Klingberg is RH.

well Chychrun fits from the aspect that he'd become 3rd best defenseman on the team

but they could very well be targeting someone no one even has an idea about

Drury seems very stealth

That's a really poopty play and Dell should be suspended for it.

the problem with that is, if Dell got suspended, who does it really hurt

It would at least send a message that goalies are not exempt from the rules.
