To be fair, it would be better if we could get some additional secondary scoring and one more true shutdown dman. That said, the team’s secondary scoring has been completed by an all hands on deck approach with clutch goals by all. And the groans about Nemeth and, particularly, Miller are overblown. - Bean_Dip
I haven't complained about Miller. The one thing people aren't saying, its not a coincidence that Trouba is having his career year paired with Miller. Chemistry is a big thing in hockey |

Agree about Miller but Nemeth is (frank)ing awful and has to go. |

Don’t understand how anyone can be upset by that. It’s been a few years now of talking about a rebuild. By most measures the team did a great job completing a quick turnaround. Now is the time to make a run.
And you know what? If it doesn’t work out this year or next and the team needs to continue the rebuild…so be it! They can always go back to selling assets for futures. Failing in going for it leads right back to where people want them to stay put. - Bean_Dip
All of our assets now have NMC, CK20, Panarin, Zib, Trouba, Fox, Lingren, Goodrow. cant sell them. Strome is a FA. The Hunts, Rooneys and Reaves have little trade value. Whats left are the kids who have under performed so far.
If Chytil, KK and Laffy have shown some progress and produced, most definitely go for it. Miller hasnt built on his good rookie campaign. 5/6 slots on defense hasnt been good at all. |

Honestly I liked Hayes in the past but he just seems like he is breaking down. Non stop injuries the last year and a half and that contract is pretty bad right now. He was never a fast skater to begin with, just don't see him ending well over the last 5 years or so of that deal. When healthy he def can help a team but I just don't know if he can stay it |

if he played like Keith Yandle, who played the game like he would get in trouble if he got his jersey dirty, he would get injured less often

I don't think Hayes was THAT slow and he is great at possession. That being said, he has not even remotely lived up to that monster contract. I wouldn't even consider adding him to this team and I was a huge Hayes fan and upset to see him go. |

Yeah, the contract stinks. If Philly retained 1/2 for the life of the contract I would probably do it. Pretty cheap for a 3rd line center. Injuries would be a concern |

I understood it from a money standpoint to an extent but it was never gonna happen. Now they are two of the most important players on the roster. |

How awful is he, really? The team is 6th in the league in GA. He’s on the third pair and plays on one of the best pk units in the league. He’s no Lindstrom, but he’s also no Hamrlik. |

That’s all fair. But the cap space for this year is available. I can’t imagine Drury doesn’t see the same points you point out.
If he can plug holes without truly emptying the cupboard (I’m thinking one high end prospect and the first), is that something you could get down with? - Bean_Dip
Most definitely!! But think about the cost of a JT Miller. he isnt on an expiring contract and would cost more than a first, Chytil and Kravs possibly?? Hertl? I would think somewhere around the same price. Then you still need to add a 5/6 d man and still have to hope the third and forth line starts to produce. |

I’m not going to get into speculation on who the targets are. None of us are going to be able to predict that outcome.
But the areas to improve are clear. The assets are available. The cap is plentiful. There’s going to be some trades.
PS - that trade for Miller doesn’t sound bad to me at all |
