I thought all of Fletcher's answers were great today ... basically Chuck echoed every single thing I have said on this forum for the past two seasons ... so to me what is not to like?
- jd250

He has no answers. To be fair he is speaking in GM talk….but if his idea is to build up the hockey op’s? You’ve advocated a tear down have you not? Where did he talk about that?

"All these injuries are just because of our bad luck. That said, we're confident this same exact luck will deliver quality players through the draft without bottoming out."

Look, lets be honest, nothing Fletcher said today would have mattered to you, your mind is made up. Everything Fletcher said today echoed what I have posted over the past two seasons on this forum, so for me I loved everything he said!

After today I think Ristolainen is getting resigned.
- MBFlyerfan

I can’t see it. I think they’re going to load up on picks and try to make a move at the draft

I just clicked on some of the press conference. I think I was watching it from the beginning. Only watched a little but what I already know was confirmed. When it comes to hockey, Dave Scott is an idiot. Until he goes, it won't happen here.

Even with everyone healthy this is absolutely a bottom 8 team once Giroux is gone. I hope they realize that.
- hereticpride

I got the "impression" that Coots and Ellis will be out for the rest of the season. Both should get whatever surgery they need NOW and be ready for next season.

Committing to drafting and developing is never a terrible plan when you're in the situation the Flyers are in. Like I said previously, the league is full of really good players that were drafted outside of the top 5. The Flyers have an issue with development of players. They need to change how they do everything, which is what Hextall was trying to do. The issue is not that plan. The issue is based on what I'm hearing about the press conference, they have no plans to adopt that philosophy.
- MJL

can you just stop bringing hextall into it every chance you get. I dont understand why he even needs to be mentioned.

I liked Fletchers answers for the most part, felt like he side stepped some questions that would have thrown others under the bus which is expected.

Did not like anything Dave Scott had to say. Regardless of people's opinions of Fletcher you can clearly see his hands are tied by what Dave Scott expects.

2-3 pieces is ridiculous especially with some guys on their way out. There is no one on this roster capable of stepping in for Giroux. Maybe its a blessing in disguise. Maybe we will be worse next season and get Bedard

- xShoot4WarAmpsx

If those 3 pieces are Macdavid, Makar and Vasilevsky….

I hope so. I want to make it perfectly clear that I was not endorsing what Fletcher said. I want no part of Ristolainen long term.

Fletcher should pretty much be fired after that meeting
- 2Real

The guy that would fire him was sitting right next to him and on the same page with Fletcher's answers.

Normally I dismiss these pressers since they talk a lot but really say nothing. Make no mistake, this management team remains clueless. "We'll be back in it next year", speaks volumes...they really believe it. This statement shows they are circling the wagons and don't have the cajones to do what must be done. Again, Scott is not who should be the face of the franchise. Its truly hopeless until this group is replaced.
- DANCER

No they do not. They do however believe that this is the best strategy to max revenue.

I got that impression too. As for the surgery part, I could have sworn Fletcher said, at least 2 times, that surgery is always their last option.

The fact they have no answer on Ellis or any idea about a time frame after 3 months is rediculous.

But elite players are typically developed outside the organization. Go find an elite player who has spent more than half a season in the AHL. Most don’t spend anytime.

Drafting is the only plan so why not draft with the higher probability of success. It has worked for the overwhelming majority of Stanley cup winners. You can’t say in one breath that the Flyers drafted the talent of what you expect from the middle of first round and then say they can get elite players there regularly. Either those are traditional the types of talent you get or there are better talent available at those spots and the Flyers drafting has been awful. Which is it?

Possible but he said they would look to work something out which doesnt rule out trading and trying to bring him back. Also suggested it is up to Ristolainen. He might not even want to come back

This and waiting until the off-season to evaluate medical staff felt like the two biggest issues.

That's not correct. It's about hockey, not revenue to them. They actually believe it hockey wise. It's obvious and it's distressing.

If he hasn’t signed yet then the Flyers will have to over pay him at this point under these circumstances. I think he’s gone.

Not sure how many times I have to state it. I'm aware that the odds of having an elite player are much higher drafting higher in the draft. I'm against tanking and won't support it. I'm not stating that you are wrong if you advocate for it. I don't. We most likely have a different view point on what tanking is.

If Fletcher pulled those 3 pieces into the organization, he'd be our lord and savior lmao

Fletcher needs to get on the phone with Holland 100%. He just cant help himself making bad deals. Maybe we can trick him into parting with Drasaitl

They’d be crazy not to deal him at the deadline. They can always bid for him again in the off-season. Might as well get the assets
