5. After the podcast, Joe does a bit of digging and then admits he was confusing information he's read, reaches out to Josh Zepps, and pivots his initial understanding.

Yup, we better cancel a person who is willing to accept new information, explain why they had the wrong information, and change their mind in a post to the millions who follow him.

- mjones242

Good for him. Seriously that's more than most would do. However, will he now spend as much time and effort spreading the true narrative as he did the fake narrative?

And no I don't think he should be cancelled. Discourse is good especially when, like this, it leads to educating a guy trying so hard to spread a fallacy.

I think Neil is canceling himself from Spotify and the podcast you referenced was after Neil had made his announcement. His complaint is that Spotify doesn’t have a misinformation policy that allows continued dangerous information to be spread.

I’m also getting tired of the whining about cancel culture. What’s wrong with people using the market to hold companies accountable for their actions?

- Canada Cup

Neil was the first concert I ever went to
I am triple vaccinated

Neil fought 60 years for freedom, but now has a problem with freedom of speech?
Seems hypocritical

There is no cancel culture. It's a market.

We seem to have this belief that our rock and roll heroes are perfect - they all have flaws and weaknesses just like us. Young is an important songwriter and a Canadian Icon. He's not perfect by any stretch. If you look to see if he's a nice guy in Peoples magazine, you will be even more disappointed.

Interesting tidbit that provides a little context:

As a young child, Neil Young had polio.

If you make the mistake of actually reading what Rogan tweeted, it's not a full admission that what he was saying is wrong. Far from it.

And if you look at what Rogan retweets, 75% of it is dangerous wackjob poop.

So only perfect people can take stands on issues that matter to them? Martin Luther King was an adulterer. What a putz.

From the hockey buzz code of conduct. Go find a chat room
2. Please keep threads on-topic
Try to keep things on-topic. If Eklund writes a blog on Eastern Conference trade rumors, and you want to talk about the latest NHL video game, please locate the appropriate thread, or create a new one, in the forums.

- Trevrrrgavo

In the Leaf blog comments we don't enforce this to the degree perhaps others do, as some have noted verbally or with emojis the conversation here does go off topic to non-hockey related things. As long as the conversation is polite, fairly non-confrontational and respectful we let it continue. It unfortunately doesn't always go that way but that happens with both non-hockey and hockey related discussions. o he person they disagree with - and that is where it can go sideways in a hurry.

I love Van Morrison when he's singing (in the 70's) ....when he's speaking he's a (frank)ing moron.

This has absolutely nothing to do with freedom of speech - quit believing the horsepoop that the lunatic right is shoving down your throat.

A polio survivor doesn't want his work in the same platform as a guy who is spreading incredibly dangerous poop about vaccines - Young has stated that it's him or Rogan (I suspect Young knows he is going to lose this).

How is that in any way an infringement of freedom of speech?

Hint: it isn't at all. Not a single franking bit.

Free speech is about the state restricting speech, he's not advocating that. He's exercising free speech.

Also Spotify overcompresses most of their music. More often than not there's audible pumping even on the highest quality.

And two of his kids have cerebral palsy and another has epilepsy and his dad covered the Leafs. He has a strong interest in medical health issues.

I had his dad’s two hockey books when I was a kid: Scrubs on Skates and Boy in Leaf’s Camp.

COVID and related subjects are the biggest thing to affect society - including the NHL - since WWII.

We need an outlet, and I appreciate the latitude you are giving us here.
