Not asking for him to coach the team to the playoffs. I'm asking him to improve the details in the teams game. Take the winning goal last night. It was basically 3 Stars against 5 Flyers collapsed around the net. There were layers of failure and it was easy for the Stars to create the scoring chance and the puck went in. There has been no improvement.
Hey, isn't a refreshing presser from the coach after the 12th loss in a row something every fan looks forward to?

- MJL

What can any coach do when after loosing 11 in a row your captain, in a home game, comes out plays 20 minutes, doesn’t register a shot attempt, 0 hits, 0 takeaways, 0 giveaways, 0 shot blocks. Definition of going through the motions. & that is the leader of the team. A guy the kids are supposed to look up to!?!? CC at his finest. Fraud Giroux

What's a softball question, Pavel?

Asking for more clarity on the injuries to Ellis and Couturier in particular?

Asking about the 2-19-3 record when trailing first in a game?

Asking whether the AV/player relationship was broken after last season?

Asking about Giroux, his NMC and his UFA status after the season?

Asking for an assessment of the coaching staff?

Asking Fletcher to assess the decisions he made last offseason in light of the team's record?

Asking what, BEYOND injuries and Covid outbreak (which were undoubtedly obstacles but not excuses for getting this far off the rails), are the root causes of why the team is not harder to play against than it was a year ago? Cutting the GAA and simultaneously playing faster were the stated main goals heading into this season. It hasn't happened, even when key players were available. So why?

All of those things will absolutely be asked. Not one of them is a "softball question."

So what's a tough question, Pavel? Performative internet tough guy grandstanding, like "Do you intend to resign?" "Does Comcast need to sell the team?"

No, those won't be asked.

BTW, it's a Zoom press conference. So, to ask a question, you have to use the "Raise hand" icon, wait to be called on and unmuted. Then you get ONE question and an optional follow-up question.

The housekeeping part of the press conference -- injury updates, farm system updates (Signing collegiate prospects, for example), etc. -- tend to take up a chunk of the allotted time. Factually driven questions about on-ice performance and roster-move assessments need to be asked and comprise the bulk of the remaining time.

I would like to see Chuck explain the litany of cast-off signings instead of bringing up players from the AHL. I am also surprised that there would not be any questions about why so many players have come back from injury only to find themselves back on IR. With so many examples of that, I don't think the "bad luck" narrative should suffice.

People just need to accept that these "young" players are just not that good. This is a big part. This core compared to others is bottom end.

The other part is the development at the pro level. None have really improved there game over the last several years. Goes back many years.

I think the players are getting a pass with all this fletcher talk. There is no way they should be this bad. Again, there is enough blame to go around to everyone. But its not all on Chuck.
- bradster

That’s true too. There really aren’t many guys on this team that I’d lose sleep over if they moved in decent deal. Roster has been poor for a long time in my opinion

How bout asking Fletcher players being injured their first game returning. It happens over and over and over again. Does the medical staff need to be evaluated. Just status quo. Ridiculous.

How about questioning the organization's method of team building handed down from on high from Dave Scott, who clearly doesn't know a thing about hockey?

Was hiring a GM with an Action Bias a mistake?

Should Clarke and Holmgren still be allowed anywhere near anyone making any kind of hockey decisions, even if in an advisory role?

Since the GM that was hired for its action bias has failed so miserably, how can that same GM be trusted to make the right decisions moving forward, including the upcoming trade deadline?

Is the ownership apparatus taking a close hard look at how its hockey department does things, or are they listening to the same old voices in their ear from over 40 years ago?

I agree. I would also ask about the Elliotte Friedman report that we promised Yandle that he would be played enough to break the record if he signed with us. Follow that up with a question about how metrics affect playing time etc...

We have a lot of prospects, but most have a ceiling of 3rd liners(tops). What help is it to have 8 3rd line projected guys. There's only so many spots for them lol

Until we play them, that is all conjecture. When you suck this bad, we should find out. If you are right, we have to take that into account going forward.

If the report is true I guess the sign in the locker room can finally come down. So that is a positive there at least.

It will be a soft ball press conference. Except it won't be the questions that will be softballs. It will be the answers.

Yes, both Dallas goals resulted from turnovers and break downs from both young players and veteran players. But the team overall is playing better. The problem has primarily been their inability to finish offensive opportunities. The Flyers have to work so hard for any chance they get, but they can't finish and that is the most frustrating! If the Flyers score 3 goals last night they win the hockey game and no one is talking about that 2nd Dallas goal. The Flyers had chances to score 3 goals and have had chances to score 3+ goals in just about every game in this losing streak, but they don't finish. Is that the coaches fault or do you put any blame on the personnel on the ice?

I blame Yeo for not swapping Frost and Laughton. Frost, Konecny and Lindblom dazzled a few games back and are very similar players. Likewise, Mayhew and Willman and Laughton are the same type players. Making that swap would have generated more scoring opportunities. Yeo owns that failure.

That would be typical. I just don't expect a lot of follow-up questions like "so what have you done to reassess how you rehab injuries, when you determine a player is ready to take the ice ...? If the answer is nothing, then the question would be whether these outcomes are expected or surprising. I don't expect much of that.

I think the gm is getting a pass with all this player talk.
I think the gm’s advisor group is getting a pass with all this Hextall talk.
I think the medical staff is getting a pass with all this Covid talk.
I think the scouting and development team is getting a pass with all this injured roster talk.
I think the coaching staff is getting a pass with all this lack of practice and busy schedule talk.

Sooner or later it will take more than just firing the dinosaur coach as a deserving but scapegoated offering to show that this organization is being held accountable for their results.

Dave Scott is the only person that should be holding a press conference but he is beholden to the advisor group because he has no idea how to run a professional sports franchise.

It’s a freaking Möbius strip of avoiding accountability. EVERYBODY MUST GO!!!!

Wait, the Flyers are the only winless team in 2022?

Also, Chris Therien laughing at the flyers? Can't blame him after seeing the Gritty app.

Tell me which forward prospect in the Flyers' system has shown that he belongs in the top 6 on this team? I would have liked to see Foerster earn a call up this year, but he got hurt and is just now starting to skate again. I would have liked to see Allison get a full NHL season with the Flyers, but he has been hurt this entire season and I honestly don't feel he will ever be able to stay healthy. I would love to see Frost be our 1C and give us hope for the future, but his development has been much slower than we hoped; let's hope he can build on last night's game. Who else? What other young forward do we have in our system that you think can step into the top 6 right now? Name them?

LOL, no they're not playing better overall. Between players you say are having great games to this, I don't know what team you're watching. Claude Giroux played well last night? Konecny? Atkinson? The Sanhiem/Ristolainen pairing was bad. Oh I know, McEwen had a great game!

How about the competance of the the medical staff and how the organization handles player injuries. Multiple players have been injured, diagnosed, rehabbed to only incur reinjury upon returning. One player was diagnosed as a minor injury and given a 4-6 week timeframe not to be heard from 17 weeks later. The fans deserve transparency when it comes to injuries. But the more info they give, the more it opens to criticism and scrutiny and god knows they cant handle that
