There's not going to be any sort of big announcement. The GM will simply be trying to spin this situation and blow a bunch of smoke up our asses. It will be laughable and a waste of time.

Agreed. It will be no need to see TV.

Frost says: "I think I play well when I'm using my body and moving my feet"

Well, has dawn broken over Marblehead!?!

Now kid, start taking initiative and shoot the puck!

You do know the team also sucked before he got here, right? You make it sound like he drove a conference champion into the ground.
- hereticpride

The team was clearly better than they have been the last two seasons before he got here.

Frost is not a shoot first player. He is a playmaker.

Yes, I know, however he, like a lot of players in this org, have to learn balance and initiative. Last night had two looks at net in close and he tried to pass the puck versus trying to score. I would like him to try to score there himself, use his puck handling skills and gain some more confidence.

He's a playmaker who ideally should be playing with a player like Atkinson.

Well, if Frost keeps playing like this I am sure he will move up in the lineup when the opportunity arises. I mean right now you got G-Cam-JVR and Laughton-Lindblom-Tk, so maybe Frost's first hurdle is beating out Laughton for that 2nd line C.

Frost shouldn't have to beat anyone out to get better linemates. It's in the best interest of the Flyers.

I'm personally not expecting anything imminent. Seller at the deadline, try to get some young players rather than just draft picks. Try to open cap space for the offseason. New coaching staff next season.

I expect the message to be that the team, even with all the injuries, should be better than it's been. The number one goal was to be much tougher to play against, and the numbers make it hard to dispute that they have NOT. He'll say that everyone shares blame, including the GM. But the injuries are still a factor although not an excuse, he'll say: only had Ellis, Hayes, Ristolainen and Couturier all in the lineup a single game all season. He'll hopefully provide a little more clarity on exactly what Ellis and Couturier are dealing with, whether they'll be shut down for the season.

Undoubtedly he will get questions about Giroux. He'll say that it's still his hope that Giroux spends the rest of his career in Philadelphia but he'll talk to Giroux -- whose decision it ultimately is -- and then determine a direction.

He'll get a question about the coaching staff. He'll say Yeo has done an admirable job under very tough circumstances, although the record doesn't show it. He'll reiterate that Yeo will finish the season as head coach. He'll say that everything in the organization will be evaluated, top to bottom, and the coaching is part of it. He'll also say again that he hated to fire AV but he felt a "new voice was needed."

If asked about Lehigh Valley, he'll say the Phantoms got off to very rough start but have battled hard despite their own injury and Covid issues and will praise Lappy and the LV staff.

I'm sure a lot of folks will express disappointment that there was no blood-letting immediately or specifics given. But pay attention to two things: 1) What he stops short of saying, and 2) What can be inferred between the lines. He won't tip his hand directly about anything for the off-season, because GMs just don't do that.

If that is indeed the way the press conference goes down, it would be like throwing gasoline on a fire.

They have absolutely no clue how badly they have screwed up this organization.

Fletcher has no business holding this press conference, Dave Scott, or whoever at Comcast holds the Comcast Spectacor CEO responsible is who needs to be holding a press conference.

The fact that Fletcher is allowed to hold this press conference is the show of support that only a tiny fraction of the fan base believes he deserves.

Does anybody not think that Ed Snider would have fired Fletcher already?

Prediction: Fletcher's presser is nothing more the him putting out fires. The end.

Don't waste your time.

This slug is going to stand up there and spew garbage with a current 13 game losing streak after the latest embarrassment coming up tonight? If the media had any balls they wouldn't allow him to get away with that. But I guarantee it will be one softball question after another to this incompetent clown.

If you haven't yet, listen to Yeo's post game last night, I think he explains why this is and is spot on and discusses what he believes this team can do to generate more offense.

But we also cant really believe that Fletch is going to come out and say "we will be having a fire sale at the deadline."

Fletch will say nothing of substance because that is exactly what what should happen. If he is doing his job he shouldn't weaken his negotiating position. Teams will already be trying to low ball him on each and every deal. So why throw fuel on that fire?

Im not sure why some people (not you specifically) expect him to come out and say, hey we suck and will be trying to get rid of all our players at the deadline. All our current players like X, Y, and Z will be getting traded and so forth and so on. That just wont happen. Nor should it.

None of us should expect some earth shattering news.

Of course he plans to do a lot of dealing at the deadline and off season. He is not going to lay out his plan in detail during a press conference with half the season left.

The press should ask him questions that only Dave Scott can answer.

Something like has the organization looked into finding a new GM?

If you say that would be insulting to Fletcher, I say it no more insulting than what has been inflicted on Flyers fans for a decade.

13 games in a row 3 goals or less again.

Whoever the intern is running the Flyers twitter account, what a fool.
The hashtag #BringitoBroad is hilarious. What are they bringing to Broad other than embarrassment and incompetence.

He should have been fired a month ago after the first 10 game losing streak. It would have given the new GM time to evaluate and make a plan for the trade deadline. Now you are going to have this fool making moves. Absolute circus.

but is it in the best interest of his development? This is where you and I disagree. I still believe young players like Frost have to beat out their veteran counter parts as phase one in their development. Look at Frost's game last night as an example. If the coach had just elevated him into the top 6 with the way he was playing prior, it would have been a disaster IMO, for Frost and the Flyers. Its better to make sure the kid learns valuable lessons playing against bottom 6 opposing forwards so he is prepared to play into the top 6. Its not just about playing with better players. You must also be sure a younger kid is capable of playing against higher caliber players like Benn and Seguin.

I know just about everyone on here is posting to fire Fletcher and burn it all down, but I will reiterate my support for Chuck Fletcher, I think he is a good hockey guy and a stand up person. I believe he will answer the questions he gets this week with his usual balance of candidness and restraint, and I am comfortable with him finishing out this year in his current roles. However, I do believe it would be beneficial for Chuck to get another executive voice in the room starting this off season, whether that is another assist GM or to go all the way and hire a new GM. But I have no problem with Fletcher staying with this organization in his role as President. Fletcher is a well-liked and respected hockey guy in this league, and even though things have not worked out these past 2 seasons, I really think we shouldn't lose sight of this. I'm in the minority on here, I know, but I still support and like Chuck Fletcher!

100%. But Fletchers job was to be more aggressive and get Flyers to the next level. Much like Hextall, although doing some good things, simply hasn’t done a very good job. Both had some major gaffes …both failed to make this team better. Yesterday I read one comment about “we should have kept Hextall”….why? Hextall was fired with cause. Fletcher is only still GM because it’s only been 3 years…his mistakes are mounting and I see a guy with no clear path, no direction. It’s ok for Scott and company to admit that they made a mistake in Fletcher at the end of the year. I really think the answer lies outside the organization. Do what Montreal did, interview a bunch of young exec’s with no past ties to the Flyers. It’s time to clean house.

Yes you are in the minority. Results matter. This is professional sports. No trophies for participation. The simple questions are 1) has Fletcher made this team better ? No. 2) Has he now had enough time to put his stamp on this team? I would say yes.
How long does he get ? How many more gaffes and poor signings are the Flyers supposed to be subjected too?

He’s been here for what barely 3 years? Some seasons of which has been shortened due to Covid.

I get that this season is an absolute mess but if you dump a GM that quickly is anyone competent going to want the job? I think he gets another year for better or worse.

That's archaic especially for a team in the Flyers position. They have nothing to lose and everything to gain. Put the player in a tougher spot to succeed and make him earn a better situation. Makes sense. There is a reason why the Flyers struggle to develop players. How would it have been a disaster for the Flyers? Would they go on a 12 game losing streak or something?

Well liked and respected in the league. A stand up guy. Exactly the qualities I would prioritize for the GM spot. Who cares about his actual ability to run a team.

What reasons are there that you fully support him and believe that he can be the team President and oversee everything? What has he done in his now 12+ years as an NHL GM?
