Yes they learn but sometimes it's not the most appropriate location for their development. Often times these kids need duller competition to grow their games.

It's not always 'just throw him in the NHL he'll be fine'.

they all can't be ehlers

some are dal colles

he was a top 8 pick in the draft though, not a 6th rounder
- homiedclown

connolly jumped right into the league as an 18 yr. old, fifth-overall pick
mitts came into the league as a 19 yr. old, eighth-overall pick

in hindsight, neither were really ready to make that jump...

there is no concrete formula for saying this player picked here should be in the nhl at a definitive time...players develop at their own pace and good organizations have a good feel as to when that time is

I never appreciate the argument when folks say a certain pick must play in the NHL at a certain time. It's a garbage take with zero insight.

Now if you're dealing with 2OA and he's still in the AHL after D+4, yeah that's a problem. 1st overall, within 2 years, top 15, within 3 years, everyone else between 4-7.

piss boy still put up 120 points in his first 3 nhl seasons which is second line production

casey has shown us glimpses of that production but he's gonna be 24 in the fall and he is not tall

Buffalo’s Aaron Dell will have a hearing today for Interference on Ottawa’s Drake Batherson.

I would like to hear Stripes take. As a goalie, I have been told I can stand my ground after playing the puck inside the trapezoid, same in the crease. The forward must go around me and if contact gets initiated, I don't have to let them by at all. Bracing for the hit is within bounds as well. Did Dell actually move out in front of him? Looks to me like his skates are covering the same ice when Bath is 8 feet away...

Mike Smith, Brent Johnson and Markstrom have all done almost this exact same thing. No call on the Stone hit either. From my understanding, this is a Richard move, but part of the rules. If anyone has a better understanding let me know.

casey is not gong to make it, I'll take Vinny.

IMO, he is too Soft to play in the NHL.

Where is Vinny? Why didn't he play last night?

Tage will get moved to wing is a good bet. His face off percentage is way way too lo to be a center but I think we had that conversation already.

2022 lottery pick is not here. Don't see Krebs or Cozens being a 3rd liner so that leaves Casey.

if your gonna be an nhl player though

coming into camp in shape is part of your job

you have to bring your best to make it in the nhl and we have yet to see that from this 23 year old

Don't let the recency bias allow you to write him off. Give him an opportunity to get some games in. He's an extremely talented and newly very determined player.

I think third line center is the best for casey right now even though I do not see him as a typical third line center more if we do a fun and gun system

far cry from ehlers

best chance for casey to put up points is to move him to the wing

There is nothing in the rule books that states a goalie can throw an illegal check and Interfere with an unsuspecting player chasing a Dman around the net, that results in an injury. It was a careless gutless play by a player that should not be playing in the NHL but more like a Beer League.

In generalities, you are correct. In speaking about Casey, he was brought in too quickly because of his strength and conditioning, as well as his general attitude towards such. He needed physical and psychological development time. He's late to the party to be sure, but he's signed for a reasonable amount of money for 2 more years. He's here and he's going to be a significant player.

Or if you watched Connolly when he was 18 you would see that he struggled but the Islanders were desperate for a center back then.

shiny new toy complex
tage looks great
cozens looks great as well
