You all are sleeping on Johnson he's going to be very good
- gerbe75pts

I am not sleeping on Johnson, have been on the side of it wasn't a bad pick from the very beginning. Watched him in the USHL and saw a very good player there, so wasn't upset that we took him. There's also a chance he says screw it and waits 18 months and signs where he wants. Don't think it will happen, but it's the difference in one year of getting to UFA vs choosing where to start your career. That said, Parayko had shown in the past to be an absolute stud, is RH, and could solidify the right side (and defense as a whole) if he turns it around.

His contract and age would be something to consider as Fitz pointed out, but the talent is there if he can figure it out and a position that the Sabres are currently at their weakest.

East Aurora or Clarence? EA has always been great. My first two visits to Clarence - no bueno.

Checking to see if I should try it one last time.

Parayko is nice but him hitting that 30 wall and contract wouldn't be smart for us for the future . I believe Johnson will be a player that no one notices but thats a good thing in the end

Does he sign though? If not, his rights would be something to spend quickly.

Johnson could also see the log jam at LD, decide to stay in college, and pick a better situation for himself.

Sure, there's also a chance he doesn't sign. At this point, he can play one more year at Minny and just choose where he wants his career to begin.

That's my worry, with Dahlin and Power here, he's fighting Samuelsson, Bryson, eventually Novikov (who's shown some real promise) and only for a 3rd pairing spot.

The Clarence location is nothing special. You can get great beef on weck or wings for a lot less at a million places

At his age, and with his contract length,
Parayko would be too risky of a gamble imo

Even if he regains form, how long does it last for?

It would be one thing if we could get him for cheap,
but what’s the chances of that?

Bottom line is that it’s gonna take too many quality assets for too risky of a move
I think we should look in another direction

For example:
Josh Manson is a similar type player
And he’s proven to play well on a top pair with a gifted young partner before (Lindholm)
Would he still be a risk? Yes
And as a UFA we’d also have to overpay to get him here
But we could do that for less than an 8year deal
And we wouldn’t have to give up any assets to sign him

I’m not even sure Manson would be a great idea
He’s still quite risky
But just an example of a guy we could go after instead

It’s a home run for sure
Not too many places do hand carved beef on weck anymore
And obviously the wings are great there too

Judi's lounge in Niagara Falls is a little more off the radar than most. Great wings, good beef n weck, and a great beef on weck pizza.

Unless he has a history of playing well on the right side, I don't see why he'd want to come here. Good luck getting any powerplay time when you have two #1 overall picks a head of you. I'd package him with Olofsson and ship them both off

Manson is 2.5 years older then parayko and put up .24 career ppg vs parayko’s .41. It’s a fine argument to say parayko may not be worth it, but Manson is not a similar player, would cost just as much if not more in terms of dollars and would command a term that would end similar age wise as when parayko’s would (6 years). If you made me choose, I’d go with the younger better player while giving up some assets that may not even be here vs just cap hit.
