Agree on getting a dman. It will really depend on the cost, Leafs are thin in draft picks.
I am curious how Habs deal with Carey Price. Can't see him wanting to be part of a 5 year rebuild. Honestly, the Habs are going to suck for some time, even 50% retained to move him to Edmonton or Colorado would help the Habs. Probably off season move, but hard to see him sticking around. - winsix
I'd imagine the Leafs will be getting draft picks before the draft with Engvall, Kase being RFA's and Mrazek possibly getting moved.
Plus I think we see a pick or two coming our way pretty soon from a Dermott trade. |

I think you are thinking too much of the TDL.
Engvall, Kase, Mrazek...2 out of the 3 likely are traded this offseason for picks.
Also throw in Dermott, likely fetches a mid round pick. Maybe even a few. - Santo_44
The conversation was about Chiarot as a TDL acquisition and the cost of that acquisition. The Leafs could move any of the aforementioned to recoup some picks, but none of them are going to get you into the 1st round. Kase likely gets qualified, doesn't accept, and then we move him because we can't afford him - he might get a 2nd. Engvall has more value to us since he would likely accept his QO at $1.2m and I really like his game. It's been very good of late, but let's see if he can maintain some consistency for the first time in his career.
Mrazek is a cap move, especially if he doesn't get any better. He has little value in a trade at the moment. Teams might be interested, but no one is going to pay much.
I agree about Dermott - he's, unfortunately, a diminishing asset. I figure we'd be lucky to get a 4th for him.
So my point remains - we need to have some actual draft capital in the form of higher picks. If they don't pan out or don't fall into a good place in our depth chart, then we have someone who retains some value on the trade market. |

If Arizona trades Chychrun, I can only assume the Leafs won't be in on it. I don't see Dubas moving the pieces Arizona would want. - PatC80
Agree, would be a good addition, price will be too high. If they accepted some Canadian Tire money under the table, it could work.

That's my point. We need a bruiser to take some of the load from Muzz. Plus he's got to be defensively aware at the same time.
Probably a package to get it, I'm sure - Leafsmart
I’ll be happy with a defensively sound addition |

You probably need to factor in the cost of getting someone to retain salary if they’re looking for serious dude to play on the second pair. Either way, I’m pretty sure it’ll have to be a rental. - Canada Cup
Honestly, I think a rental is the easy way to go. If we are interested in trying to retain any of the guys expiring in the off-season, it's hard to acquire term (Santo made the same point, and you're both right). You don't know what next year looks like. That projected $1m maybe gone with the latest outbreak of Omicron.
I also don't see anyone who has term and a reasonable salary that we could fit in. We're so tight to the cap in so many ways that we can't really afford uncertainty in 2022-23. |

We have Amriov, amirite?
I recall some were saying his NHL player comparison is Max Pacioretty |

Quite frankly I don't care. I like the top 5 Leafs prospects, the system as a whole is not too shabby considering they have been a top team in the regular season the past 5 years.
If the Hutton's get a 4th round pick at the TDL then the Dermott get a 3rd at least...maybe even another late pick. We'll see but I think most Leaf fans are underrating a Dermott return.
I am confident in Mrazek, a good goalie who likely gets a lot of games down the stretch. I am not worried.
This team needs to win multiple rounds now, the prospect system is perfectly fine for a good team with all of its major holes filled. |

Muzzin’s play in the next month is a huge factor, IMO. If he returns to something like last year’s form, then anything that improves on Holl is an option. If he doesn’t, they’ll have to go bigger and get someone that actually helps Muzzin or whoever moves into his spot. |

Well step 1 is him being healthy.
Afterwards, I mostly agree with what you're saying. If we can trade him to a contender and see him win a cup there, I'll be happy. And hey, if eating a bunch of his salary gives us some sort of decent asset in return, even better.

The price tag would be heavy, hard to see it happening. Giroux is still an excellent player

I agree, Rangers, Avs and Panthers all have the propspects and cap space to make a move for Giroux. Provorv would be of interest, but he's a LHD.

Clifford has one real value: Physicality. He's a secondary face puncher. I don't think he's really that good at being a face puncher inasmuch as he's better at being the face punchee.
He's not being physical in the games I've seen.
So if you're not hitting, not grinding, not winning battles on the boards, and the only time you're involved in face punching is to give the other team momentum by getting your own face punched, you might not be an NHL player anymore. - Monkeypunk
Can the Leafs send St. Louis cash for him? Since they did send consideration to St. Louis.

I just hope Dubas feels he has repaid whatever debt he thought he owed Clifford. Man is Clifford slow, I mean Chara moves like Makar compared to Clifford.

I can handle a cold toilet seat. I can't stand doing it without a bidet these days though.
One thing about Mexico is we didn't have a bidet down there, so went through like 4 rolls of TP a day to make sure I didn't have dirty swass. |
