Lets be real. The Habs want to lose as much as possible the rest of the season and likely even next.

No one helps them with that as much as Holl does. The definition of a win/win.

- GreatGigInTheSky

IMO

Habs will be happy to take on your poop players or bad cap hits with short terms left. Habs will even be willing to eat salary if needed....

as long as they get the prospects and picks they want

Any offer should start with Holl and work it's way up

Just the act of taking Holl guarantees you great odds at Wright and Bedard.

That alone should be enticing enough. No need to get greedy.

Foligno was worth a 1st for the very reason Chiarot is...it’s the NHL. Guys like Lehkonen are worth far less than what guys like Chiarot and Foligno are.

Sure, Leafs have lots of skilled 5'5 to 5'9" forwards in the system they can send to the Habs, they would fit in well with future HOF'er Cole Caufield. How many will it take to get Romanov and Primeau?

So Florida might be a juggernaut then?
- mjones242

It's pretty hard to dismiss Florida.

In our division, here are the top-4 teams in games against Playoff teams and against non-Playoff Teams:

Against Non-Playoff teams

Tampa (18): .833
Boston (21): .786
Florida (18): .778
Toronto (18): .778

Against Playoff Teams

Florida (24): .689
Toronto (20): .625
Tampa (25): .620
Boston (17): .500

. . . I think if you're posting a .600+ winning percentage against teams that qualify for the playoffs, you're a tough team. Florida, Toronto and Tampa are all 102+ point teams against the best teams in the league.

The Metro with Carolina, Pittsburgh and the Rangers have a similar top-3 in winning percentage. The Rangers may actually be a paper tiger - they are 19-0-2 against Non-playoff teams (that's a .952 winning percentage), but they are 8-11-2 against Playoff teams (.429). The Pens look more legit, being .761 against non-playoff teams, and .611 against playoff teams. The Pens have played 18 against playoff teams and 23 against non-playoff teams so far so they have had a bit of an easier schedule. BTW, Carolina is .690 against non-playoff teams (21 games) and .794 against playoff teams (17 games). Not that you need numbers to prove it, but they're legit.

Look at it another way; we're actually doing the Habs a favour. Helping them get as bad as possible. Which is what they want.

So if we're being serious, they should be paying us for Holl.

Interest adds value to the market but that doesn’t mean it reaches its ceiling.

A 2nd and a prospect is likely the most they get.

Plus, they've won playoff series in the past 15 or so years, amirite/amirov?
- mjones242

If you want to go back in time and ask the question Dr. Who, be my guest. But I care about the right here, right now and right wing insurrectionists. Only two team meet the criteria.

The thing I wish the Leafs could improve primarily is the danger from the point. The Leafs are the worst team in the NHL that isn't some poop team in producing offense and goals from the D.
- AdamFrench

Do mean just Dmen scoring Goals/assists or do you mean shooting the puck from the point more?

Romanov is the same size as Sandin, which is smaller than Liljegren.

Why do you want Primeau? Are you hoping to tank for Bedard next year, because otherwise I don't see it. He has the occasional good game. So far Cayden Primeau is sort of parallel with Sparks: Limited to good in the AHL.

Holl for Primeau and then Mrazek for Edmonton's 1st.

The Habs are rebuilding, not trading their prospects or players on entry level contracts either. the point is to build up from that group, not destroy it.

they don't need to significantly upgrade their blue line.. Trade for Soucy and trade for Mayfield

I think that's all they need
