Still curious about Power - hasn't signed yet, when was the last time a 1st overall didn't sign for this length of time? Would look pretty good on the Leaf's blueline - Just Sayin.

Is there a significant financial advantage to him signing a 3 yr entry level deal with Buffalo as opposed to sitting out until he graduates from college?

Knies is a late 2nd rounder, Power is a 1st overall.

Well, if he signs with Buffalo they've got him locked up until he's 25. That might be reason enough for him to not want to sign there.

Alright then.

Would Tavares have helped? Absolutely.

Would the Leafs win the series? Who knows?

Doesn't he still need to be on a entry level contract even if he signs as a free agent after 4 seasons in the NCAA?

I guess he could do like Kerfoot and sign a 2 year deal and become a UFA afterwards.

Well he can't sign until his NCAA season is over.

If he still doesn't afterwards.... that would be something.

or for some reason the kids wants to get his education first and then sign the contract.

Don't think any 2nd rounders from last year's class have been signed. Quite a few late 1sts haven't either.

Super rare for a 10A to go this long without a contract.

Only for one year - and he can sign with any team once his NCAA seasons are done. Then he would be a UFA

But the Sabres will have to wait at least a year for Power’s services, allowing Michigan to get another season of the 6-foot-5 defender. He’s the first No. 1 overall pick in an NHL Entry Draft since 2007-08 to not report straight to his team.

Jordan Harris (a good LHD Habs prospect) said he promised his parents he would graduate before signing his contract.

He's ending his 4th NCAA season soon and either signs with the Habs or becomes a UFA.

With all the covid restrictions, it's very easy to see him sign with (frank)ing Boston instead.

Looking at Jimmy Vesey's contract history, he signed a 2-year ELC as a UFA.

At the end of it, he was an RFA, not a UFA. He signed a 2-year contract, and was UFA after that.
