he doesn't have the worst stat line I've seen for a d-man playing on a bad team
no clue what his actual play looks like these days though - TheMussel
He's pretty bad still. |

That was a good deal. For what we gave up and what he did for the team, Phaneuf was as well.
Really you have to head WAY back and most of those deals didn't have the impact we wanted - the acquisition of Francis or Leetch or Nolan or Housley . . .Darcy Tucker (back in 2000) was a near TDL deal. I liked Mike Johnson, but I think Tucker brought an element that helped us.
Gartner for Anderson?
My final answer is going to be Andreychuk for Fuhr (plus we got Puppa and a 1st that was Kenny Jonsson). That one unarguably was a massive deal for us. It happened in 1993. So the good news is that it hasn't even been 30 years! |

I dont know why. It gives you a roadmap to trades/rumors that a known to be not true, and will never happen.

he basically david clarksoned for 2 months and then left for boston
good times - TheMussel
Outside of 5 games..ya pretty much.
Again, Dubas paid way too much for him. Even if he didnt get injured. |

I'd like access to this crystal ball you have.

Players I would the Leafs to look at for a trade before the deadline:
McCann
Giordano
Giroux
Seversen
Subban (Maybe)
Laine (Just so we can chant "Laine's Better!")
Hertl (Will probably resign with SJ)
McDavid |

I'd think it was close enough that it counts as a deadline deal. I sort of think anything in the last half of January -> TDL is a deadline deal.
If we're talking ON the actual day? That's a whole different ballgame. |

IMO, I would think the week of the deadline. Arent the TDL's usually Feb 24th - 27th?
Other than this year of course.....or pre 2010...I think they in March |

It still baffles me it costed so little to get him.
Then again, he has yet to go back to his MVP season impact on a team.... he's been average in Boston so far. |

He had already made $61M.
At that point, I'd hope that money isn't your first consideration.
Contending team in a great city is worth $2M/year, if I was a 29 year old guy. |

Just realized you were talking about the trade, not the ensuing contract.
In my defence, I got my booster yesterday - I'm a little punchy. |

For most of his career.
Don't think they got as much as I expected from Coyle as well.
Krechi was a major loss, no doubt. |
