I'm expecting Yandle to get a thunderous 2 minute standing ovation for tying the record tonight. The fans will acknowledge what a tremendous accomplishment this is. - PLindbergh31
And then boo when he turns the puck over on his first shift. |

No boos. Crowd is hockey savvy enough to realize how spoiled they've been.

Cant tell if you are being sarcastic or not but it is really is an accomplishment. Guy hasnt missed a day of work in approx 12 years. That is incredible especially for hockey where injuries are common and your body takes a beating on a daily basis.

Agreed. Yeah a bit tongue and cheek. It is a great accomplishment considering how physical NHL hockey is.
He's only played 41 games for the Flyers in which he's been awful, and the team is a laughing stock. Flyers would be best off to not even acknowledge it. I mean they didn't acknowledge what would have been Ed Snider's 89th birthday, so I'm sure they will handle it appropriately. |

The Flyers since Snider died have about the same record as they did in the last five seasons of his ownership. Doesn't seem like much of a turning point to me.
Really, since the salary cap started in 2005 they have had one great playoff run and that was a season where they had the 18th= best regular season record and were lucky just to make the playoffs. - Feanor
The Flyers have never truly adapted to the Salary cap. One GM tried to but they booted him out.

For all the folks who say tanking doesn’t work, the Penguins are a great example of it working. What did they pick #1 #1 #2 and get fleury Crosby and Malkin. Not sure of the exact order but you get it. - ClaudeFather
All we need to do is tank and get two generational superstars.

I actually highly dislike the league's "lottery", Pens/Rags/Oilers, whomever it is. The Flyers have only ever had 1 first overall pick and they traded to get it! Sorry but Clarke pointing out that Hextall didn't agree with his scouts and took Nolan Patrick isn't a public trashing. - aantny88
Sure it is. His objective was obviously to blame Hextall for the Flyers mess to protect his buddy Fletcher.

If it was a credible situation, he should've missed numerous games by now.

I’m petrified what Fletcher may do leading up the TDL. A desperate man attempting to hold onto his job is not a good situation this time of year. I just hope to god regardless of his job security, he knows what needs to happen with this team as we approach the deadline. |

Two teams with the same amount of points as the 09-10 Flyers didn't make the playoffs that season. Do their fans talk about how great those teams were? - Feanor
They are part of the 1% “get in and anything can happen” club, IMO
Loved that team during the run but there is a reason it was dismantled shortly after. |

Yes.
“That’s why we’re struggling , Hexy made some huge mistakes ... We’ve got a long ways to go to catch up.”
By squarely laying the problems of the current roster on a GM that was fired 4 years ago he is by default defending Fletcher. He didn't need to mention him by name because he absolved everyone not named Hextall of any sins. He also failed to mention any of Hextall's positives.
To paraphrase, he did not come to praise Hextall but to bury him. The mistakes that men do is remembered after their deaths, but the good is often buried with them
Edit : Hextall is not a Saint, he screwed up plenty but at least he had a long term vision for a salary cap world which i've yet to see from anyone else. |

What is the Leafs prospect pool looking like? I’m willing to bet they aren’t willing to give the Flyers anything that can fix this message or help fix it. The Flyers cannot miss if they’re gonna trade Giroux. - SuperSchennBros
This is what I’m most nervous about with Fletcher. (frank)ing up trading away our long tenured captain. |

All of whihc is true in that quote.
Do not see any Fletcher defending. When Fletcher is gone and if asked I have zero doubt Clarke will say Fletcher made mistakes.
You do realize the interview was about Clarke's career right? less the last 2 minutes or so. |

I'm not terrified of the deadline. I'm terrified of what they're going to do this next off season if they have significant cap space.

Can someone tell me why seeler is playing on the 4th line tonight? I thought it was a joke but looks to be a real life nightmare.
Don’t we not have any better options? |

they really haven't. Since the adoption of the cap, the Flyers have only really made 2 deep runs into the playoffs (at least the 3rd round). And none since 2010. |

Clarke is simply stating the lack of depth is on Hextall. The reality is, a huge issue with the Flyers has been depth. The fact is when guys like Giroux, Couturier and Hayes are hurt they have no one down the lineup that can step up. The fact is none of our prospects are really panning out as expected.
Nolan Patrick, Rubstov, Ratcliffe, Strome, Cates, Laberge, Twarynski, Bunnaman, Vorobyev, Kase ect have been busts
Sanheim, Ghost, Konecny, NAK, Myers and Frost have disappointed after showing promise.
How long before Farabee, York, Hart, Sandstrom and Zamula join them?
In fairness to Hexy we never drafted that well to begin with. Our history is flooded with busts and bottom 6 picks. In the last 22 years the best 1st round picks we made were:
Justin Williams - 2000
Richards, Carter - 2003
Giroux - 2006
JVR - 2007
Couturier - 2011
Provorov - 2015
----------------------TBD
Farabee - 2018
York - 2019
Forester - 2020

He tried, but even he buckled and signed a UFA for too much money and term, too early.
The fact that this team is probably in need of another salary cap reset so soon is really hard to believe. CF has really (frank)ed them over. |

Phantoms have played back to back games so any forward they would call up would be playing 3 in 3.

Yes, which I believe was to try and appease upstairs. Speculation on my part but that's what I think. |
