I definitely stand out as different among the hunters and fisherman I've met or share water with. I managed to stay out of jail as an adult(except for an ankle braceleted and drunk tanks after brawling) but that's a common rumor that quickly gets established about me until people get to know me better. I feel I've changed so much over the decades but obviously the streets still waft off me among the squares out there. - boonerbuck
Kind of like Robert Duval in 2nd hand lions movie. |

Flames took it to STL last night. Could be trouble if they make the PO's. Lots of games in hand. |

Totally fair. I do think JR is sort of setting the stage for his boy Allvin to be hired as GM. He's a another GM with a scouting background like Benning so hiring an AGM who handles the cap/contracts makes sense.
Patrik Allvin is 47, which is considered relatively young for a GM and JR said he wants a young GM to mentor. - Nucker101
Great... a farm team for up and coming management staff.... still.

Personally I like the process that Rutherford has implemented so far, I like the fact he stated that he will take his time, interview multiple people and choose a diverse selection of people that will have individual voices but at the same time compliment each other.
There has been a mix of experienced individuals as well as qualified individuals that will learn the ins and outs of running a hockey club. Yesterdays hire was precisely that, someone qualified in finance as well as law to learn the process of negotiation from the clubs perspective not the players.
I can't remember the last time I have been excited about the direction the team is taking...not talking about coaching, but I actually feel there is a vision with competent people running the club, when was the last, Gillis with his sleep psychiatrist...I think not, if fact I'm having a hard time remembering when...Griffiths... - Makita
I'm worried it's going to end up a cluster(frank) with too many people having a voice and you get paralysis by analysis. It's one thing if you have someone (JR) making the final decision after taking everything into consideration, but if your management group aren't all on the same page then I worry that the /best/ solutions get compromised down to mediocre or bad because no one is willing to make the call to veto all the voices down. |

Well they already tried the other approach of having as few voices as possible and failed miserably, even admitting that they ran out of time. Clearly it isn't easy to run a team with less staff |

I think JR is going to view Pitt as his farm team for team staff, wouldn't be surprised if another hire is made from Pitt during the off-season

Hope Miller has the energy to get right back in it. I'll tell you what, the fever and sore throat I got from covid was minor compared to some of the flus I had in the past but the lingering fatigue was something else. First 3 days I was sleeping 16-18 hours. Next 5 days was constant cat naps and feeling tired still. Today really is the first day I've felt perky.
Maybe he had no symptoms at all like petey and a few others I hope.

Speaking of people I fish with, the principle of one of the high schools here is a fishing buddy of mine. We don't socialize off the water but always look for each other out on Dragon in the spring and fall. Hockey is a big topic we like to ramble on about while anchored. He is a close personal friend of Travis Green's and was his swimming coach many years ago.
I haven't talked with him since the firing but he's a loyal defender of his and over the last 2 seasons I became a critic. It will be interesting what he has to say about how this team performs under BB.... |

Trade Demko. Spencer can easily replace him. That's how it works around here... get on the same page as the rest of us.

My daughter is pretty sure her family (5) is positive right now, woke up Friday with 102° to 104° temps, vomiting, fatigue, body aches, etc. Her youngest had mild symptoms and went to school Monday as guidelines directed and was promptly sent home with a 102° temp and nausea.
Omicron sure seems like a flu bug, hopefully they have no lasting effects.

How does this all work? Like Demko still tested positive? Or to weak? Didn't we lose Horvat before Miller?

I haven't talked to any vomiters yet. I also didn't get the loss of taste/smell but it turns out that is not as common as people think. Off Canada's site on Omicron symptoms, they say only 1 in 5 and I think 17th on the list of symptoms now. They say it was more common early.
I never got tested so I'm not 100% sure if it was covid or the flu bug that's going around the Cariboo. I haven't had a cold/flu in over 7 years and I'm super careful making me think it has to be Omicron that got around my defensive habits.

A lot of it has to do with what side of the border you tested positive on. 10 days before they let you back in Canada if positive on US road trip. NHL's mandate is 5 days. So test positive here in Canada and you could be back twice as soon.

Could tell you were sleeping a lot by the crazy times you were posting. Had to drop out of my bocci tournament as a friend we had dinner with just tested positive. I feel fine they wanted me to go get tested and use hand sanitizer every time I touched the ball.Covid makes people crazy with fear, that alone is tiring. |
