Personally I like the process that Rutherford has implemented so far, I like the fact he stated that he will take his time, interview multiple people and choose a diverse selection of people that will have individual voices but at the same time compliment each other.
There has been a mix of experienced individuals as well as qualified individuals that will learn the ins and outs of running a hockey club. Yesterdays hire was precisely that, someone qualified in finance as well as law to learn the process of negotiation from the clubs perspective not the players.
I can't remember the last time I have been excited about the direction the team is taking...not talking about coaching, but I actually feel there is a vision with competent people running the club, when was the last, Gillis with his sleep psychiatrist...I think not, if fact I'm having a hard time remembering when...Griffiths... - Makita

I'm in wait and see mode. Direction is still not determined. Don't understand how people can claim otherwise.

Well that is your right of opinion to be in a wait and see mode. I can understand your reluctance but I also understand my opinions and others that are also claiming they like this new honest process.

I wanna meet Booner after all of our heated squabbles! I know he has some amazing stories from his Church St days......
......and Vantel's Filipino wife.... - chompsey
You might be disappointed in Booner’s appearance. He posted a picture once of himself in one of those face coverings so you don’t burn up when fishing. I followed the address to his social media page. Couldn’t access it but it linked to a bunch of other pictures of guys fishing. If any of those guys were Booner (and I’m positive one of them was him) then he looks like any typical old dad.

For me it has been since Gillis, I thought Gillis early on was solid but then lost the plot after 2011, but I liked how he delegated front office roles and had all these specialists working as a group. That's how a lot of large successful businesses are run.
Then you had Benning/Weisbrod basically strip that down and basically have like what, 4 or or 5 people involved in the front office by the time he was fired? I remember reading that the Canucks had one of the least staffed front offices in the league under Benning, no wonder he infamously "ran out of time". I'd bet good money that the Canucks lost more off-ice personnel than they hired during Benning's tenure here, that's not a coincidence. To me it's pretty clear that Benning/Weisbrod were not easy to work with and they were perfectly fine with having more say in everything.
Now you have JR, an actual leader who understands that having a properly staffed front office that bring a variety of specialized skills to the table is important to building a winning team, it's a nice change back to competence. Just gotta hope that he hires the right person for GM.

Right... ask Lefty and Vantel about the pics I sent them of me...
Sleeved before tattoos were trendy. Missing front teeth top and bottom from fighting... scars on top of scars.... been stabbed a couple of times....

I'm sure you are joking. That wouldn't be a very smart assumption.

I don't think a directions in terms of win now/re-tool/rebuild has been determined so it's hard to comment on that. But a direction of hiring an appropriate amount of off-ice staff is what I'm happy about. Whether or not it's the right group of people remains to be seen, but at least the process so far seems reasonable.
And honestly, I'm cautiously optimistic about any hire that isn't an ex-Canuck, because then at least you know that the person is likely qualified for their job
I definitely stand out as different among the hunters and fisherman I've met or share water with. I managed to stay out of jail as an adult(except for an ankle braceleted and drunk tanks after brawling) but that's a common rumor that quickly gets established about me until people get to know me better. I feel I've changed so much over the decades but obviously the streets still waft off me among the squares out there.

I remember when Benning was hired , all the excitement. I remember when there was a chance he was going to sign with another team and the reaction in here was we need to sign him .
There are similarities in Benning Gillis and this new management group first time hiring's . We even have the Sedins as our PR pillow this time instead of Linden. I am with Booner on this , wait and see.

The hiring process is all that's been shown and not even complete yet. The most positives I've seen so far are the BB hiring and that was FA. His turn around with the team is Benning's roster.... so much to be determined yet. I don't even know the true philosophy of management tbh. If I've learned anything about management over the 30 years of being a Canucks fan.... talk is cheap and often contradictory once it's set in motion.

Correct. Gillis had his faults like all other GM's but I'll reserve judgement for when we are 60 min away from a Stanley Cup like Gillis helped this club accomplish. I like the Rutherford hire and all but the jury is out. Much work to do.

Even quicker was the transformation of Green the last 2 seasons. By the time he was fired he looked like a duffle bag with arms and legs, had a couple of handbags under his eyes and looked like someone dumped a bag of flour over his head. Between being left hanging on his contract for a year and then the horrific start, he aged 20 years.

Totally fair. I do think JR is sort of setting the stage for his boy Allvin to be hired as GM. He's a another GM with a scouting background like Benning so hiring an AGM who handles the cap/contracts makes sense.
Patrik Allvin is 47, which is considered relatively young for a GM and JR said he wants a young GM to mentor.
