JR isn’t shy about hiring strong personalties. Wtf do we want yes ppl? I really like the expanded front office & more to come. More diversity & opinions is healthy.

I understand that argument, but anyone that doesn't have "experience" in the role they are hired for, are still under the watch of Rutherford, who has decades of experience.
The most recent hire, Emilie Castonguay, is hired as an AGM, in charge of negotiation and other contractual items, which she has experience for.

He said he wanted to hire and mentor. He laid it all out when he is hired.

I havent gone that far. I'm trying to figure that out is all.... I'm not going act like it's my duty to get behind something simply because they are a woman either.

Any stand alone hiring I would not even bat an eye. Two female hiring's in one week and a third on the way sounds to me like they may have an agenda. I never even said it was a bad thing . I know I haven't said I don't like the hiring's . I am just questioning the reasoning.

Again I am stating the obvious there have probably been 10 female hiring's in the NHL in the last 10 years , so three in a month could raise questions.

Ok experience at this level can be acquired from hundreds of agents and former agents. What I desire is "most qualified they can find".

I see what people are holding up as NHL qualifications for a AGM... many of them are not actually.

About what was in bold... you have a short memory or have a built in filter. There were many on here who asked the same questions about the Linden hiring... great guy but is he qualified? Even I presented this question about Gillis when he was hired as GM. Why is being a sleezy agent who the rest of the NHL dosnt trust and hates a qualified choice? He hasnt had a job with a team since either...

- boonerbuck

the people (almost everyone in here IIRC) who questioned Linden were questioning him because he owned a chain of fitness centers and i believe a small stake in a WHL team. Those were his public credentials.

Emilie's credentials were already listed in the statement and given what other GM's have and have been hired with, she stands to match or have more than other or previous hires.

I haven't stated if I am happy or not . Booner and I are just saying Canucks seem to be hiring to fill quotas.
- VANTEL

Did you raise those same questions when they were hiring to fill quotas in the analytic department.πŸ˜‰

I know I am not arguing because I know nothing about the person. I don't think Booner is arguing either.

We are just questioning the hiring's.

All reasonable concerns. It can't be easily dismissed since he said he would be looking to fill positions with this in mind.

I'd hate the possibility that better options would be ignored is all.

I'm not unhappy. I have nothing to complain about yet. Management hasnt even been fully formed yet. Questions mean you are unhappy? How dare people want this reset to go well....

- boonerbuck

I don't believe I said you were unhappy, you are voicing an opinion, which I believe all of us do here.

i doubt they would be. He said he is looking to have 5 or 6 voices in management roles.

I still think Alvin gets hired, McFarland was also mentioned to be a front runner. Sometimes more cooks in the kitchen is worse than it is good, but up until this point, the Canucks haven't achieved their end goal in their entire existence with what they have been doing, so this strategy is nothing but music to my ears as far as diversifying and having multiple inputs at the top.

Not very difficult to have better credentials or experience than Linden at the time of his hiring. But at the same time, Linden has more experience than she does presently.

I questioned the Linden hiring from the get go . I never heard Biech slam Benning so no I didn't question analytics. I did question Gillis.

So are you telling me when she signed that contract she really did not believe her client was worth 12 mil dollars ?
- VANTEL

She is a lawyer.
Lawyers represent clients, by choice or not, and many don't believe their clients are innocent. But they have to represent them none the less and try to prove their innocence to the best of their ability, or in this case get the best deal possible.

More asking questions and voicing concerns than actual opinions. Of course it leads to opinions(for clarification) once questions get turned into statements by people who can't help themselves.

I guess I need to eat crow. It was a useless hire then as it was now.

Yet there are some fans that wished to have followed his plan for the team, even though he wasn't qualified for the job.

I question and still don't understand why the sedins were hired. I don't think it's good for the organization but that's just me. Seems as though they were twiddling their thumbs in retirement as their kids still attended school in Vancouver and were gift wrapped positions to learn and grow. Only difference is, they presumably aren't given authority to make any major decisions.

I just see emilies resume, experience, and accolades and see it as a great hire. The fact that she is a women is a distant second to what she brings.

I felt like Linden was a PR puppet, and the second he stopped doing what looked good, was when he got canned. I think the sedins were bored and wanted involvement and now here we are

He wanted to mentor the GM not the AGMs and all the way down to Zamboni drivers.

So it sounds like he may hire a GM with no previous GM experience and now a AGM with no previous AGM experience , promote Ryan Johnson to a new higher position.

See a familiar pattern forming here?

What are the requirements to be a qualified GM? I'll accept bullet points.
