I think you can reasonably apply the coaching not to lose mentality to multiple play calls during the game.
Aside from the first drive, it felt like they didn't go for the jugular until the score mandated they did, and that's a big failing on the coaching staff.
Allen under center so much early was mystifying. - kingcong39
The only drive where I didn't like the play calling was the drive immediately after the punt that pinned Kansas City back at the one yd line. It was a total waste of a drive tif, but other than that the bill's offense was able to move any time they wanted to in the game any way they wanted to. |

Squib kick, defensive holding, defensive holding, game.
Fire the HC, STC, DC?
What worries me is the coaching staff does get a lot out of the players. It's hard to find good replacements. However, the top candidates would want to coach Allen. - lacaprup
Frazier fired I think, Daboll getting a new job. There is going to be some turnover. It was a fun year but let's not sugar coat. The Bills went 2-5 during the reg season against teams that ended up making the postseason. This team is 3-4 in playoffs since breaking the drought. |

True, they were also defensive hold, defensive hold away from beating the team who's going to win the Superbowl.

I don't agree.
They punted 4 times and had essentially three 3 and outs.
The times they went aggressive (end of first half, end of game), they succeeded.
There were two 3 and outs in particular where they ran it back to back when needing 3 yards, and none of those runs were by Allen.
That is a coaching failure, bottom line. |

True, but you gotta do it. Everybody here can see it, but the Coaches can't. |

Does prevent defense ever work when there is time on the clock and the other team only needs a FG? It seems like 90% of the time the offense is able to move the ball upfield quicky as all they need is 1 catch and to beat one man and they have 30 yards before being tackled. Works to prevent touchdowns but if the other team needs a FG to tie then it doesn't seem like the best method to me.
It's almost like they were playing for a tie game while ahead
I know I am a jets fan but I wanted the bills to win
Not only because Kansas is always in the Superbowl it seems but anything to rub salt in the jets wounds until they are able to do anything positive |

The balls of the coaching staff were shrunken for far too much of the game, and what you pointed out is one example of that. |

Man, just hard to believe what went down at the game’s end.
But, holy poop is Josh Allen amazing. I love watching that kid throw the ball.

Always next year fellas. It was a good run, we need more to beat them is all.
There's a good possibility the Bills and Sabres become good here, for a long time, together, real soon. |

His throwing is amazing enough, but his runs are incredible too.
That 4th down run late was insane.
How about 2 players getting knocked out of the game at least temporarily on 2 of his runs? |

I'm running for congress on a platform of "nfl overtime reform"
The people demand a full quarter OR at least college rules OR at least one possession each. |

Josh Allen is a (frank)ing dog and a (frank)ing king.
Bout all that needs to be said. Onto the offseason. |

At the same time, if Buffalo wins the toss and goes down and scores, are we this passionate about it?

I'm encouraged because the goat heads are coming back, even only if as a 3rd. The only time this team has been championship-caliber good in my lifetime is in those jerseys. I'm only half-joking, because of 2006-2007, but to me, that's like getting one last ski run in March when the snow is melting but there's still enough there.

I've been arguing for this for years. Imagine if baseball only had a top of the 10th and the game ended if that team got a run. Dumb dumb dumb |

I get that. I wouldn't be upset to see the rule change when all is said and done. That being said, I just can't bring myself to say the overtime rules are why this team lost. This game should have been over in regulation, and the Bills have nobody to blame but themselves.

I'm not cutting McDermott any slack for a few decisions tonight, but he hasn't coached 400 games like Reid has. Reid is an experienced coach with game breakers on his roster. - Powerslave
Remember, Andy Reid lost 3 straight NFC Championship games before finally getting to a Super Bowl with Philadelphia. I know I am being Captain Obvious here, but getting to the Super Bowl, let along winning it, is really hard, especially when you have someone like Patrick Mahomes in your conference.

the difference between the Bills and Chiefs is Tyreek Hill.
Go get an uncoverable speedy WR. - ImThatGuy
How many Tyreek Hill's are out there? I know you mentioned Jameson Williams earlier, but he'll be a rookie, and he just tore his ACL. Not that I'm completely opposed to the idea, but I'm not sure that's the only plan I want to go with.

What if they played five minutes with each team only having seven players on the field, and if that doesn't end the game, go to a field goal kicking contest?
Just go to the college rules. Maybe start the ball at the 50 or even your own 35.
The Bills lost because they couldn't shut down a team for 13 seconds.
But that doesn't mean that NFL OT doesn't suck. |

The Bills have some holes, just like every other team in the league. They need to do their best to fill those holes, keep improving, continue to stay hungry, and they'll get there. |

But get a WR that doesn't punch pregnant women in the face and stomach, or break their own child's arm. |
