We were a better team, that lost because a defensive minded coach completely botched the last 13 seconds of regulation and lost to a team that has beaten you now 3/4 times and 2/2 in the playoffs (with Mahomes)

I can’t possibly view that as trending up but I agree he’s going nowhere

The idea of offensive and defensive head coaches is absurd. Making smart decisons isn't a result of which side of the ball you were raised on.

.

The loser of the game is the second best team in football. Last year we weren't that as we were outclassed.

Sure, but maybe don’t be completely unprepared to play Jacksonville, or Indy, and maybe be the #1 seed?

You don’t think the inconsistencies in the regular season are on McDermott at all?

I see worse coaches than him every week. He isnt perfect, of course. How many better coaches?

The previous 108 head coaches before him had zero playoff appearances. Any other questions?

So you're content to make the playoffs and lose to the Chiefs year after year? I don't understand your point. Not saying McDermott is getting fired tomorrow, but sometimes coaches can't get a team over that hump. He's not some untouchable savior of the franchise.

This isn't a schottenheimer comparison. We lost a historic game tonight that was a toss up. No need for stupid knee- jerk reaction. We have a good coach and more importantly a generational talent at qb.

Last week we vanquished twenty years of misery. Trending up.

Honestly I don’t know.

This team underachieved this season. They were favorites for the super bowl.

They had multiple brutal losses this season, and ended the year with an absolute debacle in a game they had won with 13 seconds left

They won’t fire him, and despite me saying I would in the heat of the moment I probably wouldn’t right now

But if I’m Pegula, and they lose to the Chiefs next year, *especially* if they lose to them twice, I’m looking for answers elsewhere

You can’t be a defensive coach and consistently have your defense poop the bed at big moments

OT against Tampa

4th quarter against Tennessee

All game tonight and especially with 13 seconds left

All game against Indy.

They were definitely inconsistent and often times undisciplined throughout the year. Losing both coordinators this off-season and with the emergence of Qbs like Burrow and Herbert things are gonna get harder in the AFC.

So the answer is it would be a complete gamble to think we would be upgrading coaches. We watch coaching idiocy every week in this league. Hell, Reid had a terrible punt decision today.

I'm not firing McDermott. The question was "who would you roll the dice with if not him?".

The one benefit to this loss is it couldn't have happened to a bigger pair of scumbags

The Bills coaching and defense lost that game. Allen is a freak. Going to be tough to watch the rest of the nfl playoffs. Will be interesting to see how involved the Pegulas are this off-season. At-least Allen doesnt want out...yet.

Sabres young guns looked good against the worst team in the league, organization still needs muscle and an entire new medical team. Eichel will be playing by St. Patricks day.

Mid March was always the projection. He'll be injured again within 10 games.

As I think about it, without a real pass rusher we have no hope of EVER stopping Mahomes. Lose both our safeties and put Aaron Donald on the Bills and we win that game.

Do whatever you need to do to get an elite rusher.

Like I said someone's balls should be hanging from the flagpole at One Bill's Drive. You cannot let what happened with 13 seconds happen. And I am not saying McDermott. If someone isn't you are showing your fanbase you are not willing to make the necessary changes.13 seconds is utter failure

Need a stud in that front 7 somewhere. Anywhere, but we need 1.

Should be an interesting offseason for sure.
As good as the team is, much of their success comes from Josh Allen playing out of his mind.

Beaner has alot of work to do to revamp this roster.
Whomever the DC is, he should also see that the LB's, S and CB's don't tackle properly...no hit and wrap-up at all...just come flying in an deliver a glancing blow hoping to knock the player down. They sorely need a complete bruising menace to punish runners and TE's...way too soft and ineffective.
The interior of the DL needs help as well.

Allen must be in absolutely phenomenal condition to be putting out the effort on all those runs, and then back them right up after with crazy throws.

I can't imagine what kind of daily work he puts in to be in the kind of shape he needs to be in to play a game like he did last night.

He's incredible.

Cam Newton circa 2015, but with the arm and accuracy of the best ever. He's a freak. One of two in the NFL.

Squib kick, defensive holding, defensive holding, game.

Fire the HC, STC, DC?

What worries me is the coaching staff does get a lot out of the players. It's hard to find good replacements. However, the top candidates would want to coach Allen.

I wanted to believe that the McDermott/Beane/Allen Bills would be unaffected by the ghosts of seasons past. I have been uber positive about the prospects of this team since week 4 last season when it became readily apparent that JA17 is something really special and this offense can be unstoppable most of the time when it wants to be.

But after a sleepless night I have come to the realization that the coaching staff is carrying around those ghosts of seasons past. There is no other explanation for a touchback other than trying to ensure there wouldn't be another home-run throwback.

Following the kickoff, McDermott/Frazier coached the last 13 seconds like they believed overtime was an acceptable outcome. They were not coaching to win, they were coaching NOT TO LOSE on a catch and run that might blow past the safeties or exploit a defender possibly being out-of-position.

It is inexcusable how the last 13 seconds unfolded. JA17 and the rest of the offence deserve better. The fans deserve better.

This Bills team can beat anyone, but ultimately couldn't overcome their own coaching.

I think you can reasonably apply the coaching not to lose mentality to multiple play calls during the game.

Aside from the first drive, it felt like they didn't go for the jugular until the score mandated they did, and that's a big failing on the coaching staff.

Allen under center so much early was mystifying.
