Heres something to throw out there into the universe…

Kravtsov + for Caufield.

Both frustrated. MTL fans calling Caufield a bust, Kravtsov having his issue with the organization. Lets go for a swap?

- aecliptic

it would be interesting to see if Gorton would be interested or if Kravtsov holds him responsible for his career being derailed

Seems like a fair swap. At least Caufield showed some spark in the playoffs

I remember when we drafted him, Pierre mcGuire was basically dry humping the screen he was so excited, I wouldnt count out Ottawa ultimately being his destination

No denying he has skills, but I just don't get it. Did he think that b/c Buch was traded that he was a lock?!

I'm more concerned about what the Rangers saw in him

I still feel like he could very solid player, it's just mentally he's a mess

All the shades of Brendl, who also possessed otherwordly talent, but the team did zero insight into his work ethic

I think Kravstov can be turned into a possible future asset ( like Lias Andersson turned into Cuylle ).

I don't think Caufield is going to be much of an NHL player. I think he is going to be like a Vinny Lettieri --- a guy that looks good in the AHL, but not really much of an NHL player. He is too small, plays no defense and his above average shot doesn't stand out enough against NHL goalies.

I really think its that kravstov thought he was as good as Kakko and was being a baby about not getting guaranteed top 6 minutes

No argument there. I just would have hoped his fellow countrymen would have stepped in and convinced him he's gotta work himself up. Though I think it speaks volumes that you don't hear too many rifts from the locker room over the whole thing. Seems like the players think the org is right on this one.

He has the skills...that is what they saw. Tough to read if a guy is a self entitled little douche from a couple interviews.

Remember when we thought Lias was super competitive because he was upset about winning silver?

MTL might send a caravan to Carolina and tear the city up.

No defense for Lias pick. Ya don't pick a top 10 1st rounder based on his competitivness alone. He had no skill set to warrant being picked there. Kravs has the body type, skating, and skills..he also is strong on the puck. Totally see why they picked him over Whalstrom....BUT obviously his character seems to be lacking at this point

Lias looked pretty good one preseason until he tripped on that wire opening night. Will forever believe that was his undoing

That was funny!

Don't think anyone saw him as more than a 3rd line/PK guy.

Yea I think at the time I was saying something like “best 3C in the league”

Would have still been great in hindsight.

I say figure out a way to make it work with Kravtsov rather than trade him. Never going to get full value for him and unlike Lias the kid actually has skill. So far all 4 of the Rangers top 10 picks these last few years are looking like busts.

Lias 7th OA
Kravtsov 9th OA
Kakko 2nd OA
LAF 1st OA

The difference between lias+krav and kakko+laf is that kakko and laf were the consensus picks there and all 30 other teams would’ve made the same choices we did. Also I still say it’s too early to judge entirely, but it’s about time we see something from them

with Kakko out for a few weeks, now would be a really really really really good time for Lafreniere to explode a bit
