I hate to suggest this....trade Morrissey ? - bennythehat
Why? Keep both. Schmidt only has 2 years after this one, and a fire sale will still need to keep us above the cap floor.
Morrissey is having a massive bounce back year, and if this is his final form, I’m holding on to him long term. |

Schmidt has three years after this one, they have a lot of D prospects they need to make room for, if there's a decent offer for Schmidt they should cut their losses and deal him. |

Also Kovacevic and Gawanke are no longer waiver exempt to start next season, there's a risk they could be claimed when the Jets try to send them down, not likely to happen but it's possible, they really need to start clearing a path for some of these young dmen to make the big club or at least challenge for a job and not be AHL lifers. |

To answer both of you, next year I’m running:
Morrissey-DeMelo
Samberg-Pionk
Heinola-Schmidt
But I would prefer to be able to move Schmidt as well, and let the two you mentioned fight it out with Stanley and Chisholm for the 6/7 jobs.
Also, random thought, I love that the Jets are quietly getting themselves caught in the same trap as the Oilers by repeatedly valuing size and experience over skill and potential. We’re literally spending money and assets to be worse than we could be by doing nothing at all. |

Actually, Chevy keeps on drafting pint-sized defencemen (Kuzmin, Johanneson). Oilers are just lottery lucky and draft dumb.

Blasphemy !!! One of the few times I ever disagree with Benny
Morrissey is clearly our best Defenseman and I think has a decent contract for a Dman of his caliber.. I'd give Pionk a close second although he seems to be on the ice for a LOT of goals against.

The drafting isn’t the issue. The continuous misidentifying of their own weaknesses is the issue.
Had they just gone with the blueline they had at the start of the offseason, they would be far better.
Nurse-Bear
Jones-Bouchard
Broberg-Lagesson
Winnipeg has much the same problem, choosing to over-rely on their top players while filling the bottom half of the lineup with other teams’ spare parts. |

I'd dump Schmidt. But he waived his no trade clause to come here. I don't think the Jets want to trade a guy who does that 8 months later.
Get rid of Dillon and DeMelo.

You can’t afford to lose DeMelo. He’s the only guaranteed shutdown guy. |

Sorry Rexy I don't get what you mean, who are these big players and veterans that the Oilers and Jets are prioritizing? |

This I agree with! We should have traded for my man Tyler Myers instead. I love that guy! |

Keith, Ceci, Kassian, Smith, Ryan, Dillon, Wheeler, Lowry, Beaulieu, and now Poganski.
Just for the active guys |

LOL! I've missed Rexypoo takes. I think the Jets will still miss the playoffs with or without their top shutdown d.
Trade Pionk then and run a Heinola-DeMelo 2nd pairing. |

Ugh, no let's not trade our best dman. |

Dillon has been great for the Jets, idk why they traded for him AND Schmidt but Dillon has been solid.
Lowry sucks badly, 4th liner at best, his fight against Schenn reminded me of what he's good for, chucking knuckles occasionally, funny that Luke Schenn has the same amount of points as Lowry does, yup the best 3C in the league has similar point totals to journeymen 3rd pair dmen, pathetic!
Wheeler is done, what are you gonna do, is what it is.
Why is Poganski playing over Reichel? Not that I think Reichel would be some kind of savior but he has a goal and the Jets kind of need those.. 🤔
You won't get any argument from me, Dillon is the only guy on that list that I think is any good.
Ken Holland is bad at his job, has been for many years now. |

Pretty sweet pass Myers gave to Pettersson on that goal.
Vancouver doesn't go on that win streak after Boudreaux was hired if they don't have Myers. |

Thats 6 losses in a row, this goalie for the Canucks, he's what their 4th string goalie?!.. And many though the Jets were this high powered offensive team that could get scoring from all four lines.. 🤣 |

I watched the Canada soccer game in which we won 2-0 against Honduras.
I see the Jets lost. It appears I didn't miss anything except what was likely very bad hockey by the Jets. Good thing there very few fans in the building because if there was they would be booing very loudly.

Selling your best defensive player on a value contract during his prime just because you can is not wise. Especially when his market value won’t be half what his on ice value is.
Don’t sell Pionk either. If you want to, run 14-2 AND 54-4, then gift Morrissey the best youngin left |

Blake Wheeler blaming the youth of the team for the 100th time is so ridiculous.
Blake, thank you being a great Jet for a long time and being captain of this team, but it is now abundantly clear you are not capable of seeing the flaws and collapse of your own game. Either decide to accept a new role on this team ( third line, no more PP ) and be a Captain who supports and builds up the youth not tears them down or lift your no move trade and allow us to facilitate a move. |

Just threw the idea out there to test the water. I like Morrissey, but if you want to get something back, you have to give something up. We have a potential glut of left d-men. Someone should be moved.

I agree.
I have no idea what promises Chevy made to the summer acquisitions but this is the order you trade them and its based on play and salary
1. Schmidt - 5.95 mil per for 3 more
2. Dillan - 3.9 mil per for 2 more
