Cole got a couple points and looks good out there but I still think they should send him down and slide that ELC cause this team is going nowhere this season, that's five losses in a row now people, FIVE!!
The Jets have played three less games then Chicago and are 4 points up on the Hawks in the standings but we're getting pretty close to 7th place in the division, oh well, at least they'll get a good draft pick I guess, hopefully Chevy doesn't plan on trading it in a panic move to try to save the season.
This team needs an overhaul, I knew the Jets issues were way more then just Maurice (though I never bought into what he was selling)and needing to fix its defense. - JetFuel
here's the thing, sending Perfetti down, HURTS and SLOWS his development. He needs to be developing and playing games in the NHL, all sending him down does now is PAUSE or STALL his growth as a player. why do that, that's wasting this time.
also, as Rexy explained, you don't "save" money by sliding his entry deal. The difference between signing him to a long term extension in 2 years, where he might be coming off a 50-60 point season to signing him to a long term extension in 3 years when maybe that point total jumps to 65-80 points could actually cost you an extra 2-3 million more per year for 6-8 years. therefore you are actually hurting yourself more cap wise long term. |

I would:
1. Keep Perfetti on the Jets going forward
2. Send Heinola back to the Moose for more experience
3. Trade Scheifele for Lundell now if possible (others included for
salary cap issues)
4. Trade Copp for best package I could find
5. Change our entire coaching staff at season's end
6. Pray for better seasons ahead! lol - grahamzky
1. yes, no question!!
2. NO!!! Heinola is already done all he can at that level, playing in the AHL or rotting in the press box is doing nothing for his growth or development. Do whatever you can to get him in your line up asap. trade Scmidt! admit Stanley will never be more than a 6/7 guy, whatever, but let Heinola play every game, not this one game every 2 months and expect him to be Makar.
3. yes but this needed to happen 3 months ago. I doubt Florida even considers it. but something like Hornquist ( salary ) and Lundell for Stanley and Shief just might be tempting and is a huge win for us.
4. agree, he wont be signing here, try for a first rounder, accept 2-2nds. focus on 2023 draft, its much stronger than this years
5.Yes!!

edit: to be fair Pionk also has poor straight line speed and is a fair comparison for what we can hope for in Ville in the next couple of years. - 2.0
I think Ville will be better than Pionk. Possibly the best defenceman we ever have.
There’s also nothing to gain in sending him back |

1: Yep.
2: Heinola has nothing to gain in the AHL anymore. He’s dominating at that level. His only way forward is to play NHL games.
3: Yes, but it’s already too late for that. Lundell is as good now.
4: Sure, unless he signs cheaper than expected.
5: YES.

Time to say good bye to:
Copp $3.64 million (doubt that he will re-sign here)
Schmidt $5.95 million (not worth the money)
Stastny $ 3.75 million (maybe he wants to win a cup somewhere)
Beaulieu $ 1.25 million (not worth the money)
Vesalainen $.894 million (give him a fresh start)

Well we agree on everything except Heinola. I just don't see what the rest of you are seeing right now - but certainly admit Heinola has potential. Skate and shoot and the rest can be taught. Besides d-men mature later.
So hope I'm wrong here as we do need a dominant d-man. No question! |

Rexy, I hope I'm wrong and Ville dominates in the NHL. Haven't seen any Moose games, but good reports coming. |

Agree with all. Not sure if they will deal Stastny unless he requests a trade. I know he doesn't have a NTC but still, at 36, they may respect his wishes, whatever they are.

I'm pretty much done watching every Jet game for the next little while. I have no interest in watching this cement head Lowry coach the Jets. He can't even articulate well with the press so I doubt he does much better on the ice. Did anyone notice that all the top teams drop the puck back on the PP, Florida included. So what, its costs you a few extra seconds before entry. FLA gained entry almost 90% of the time while the Jets were lucky to gain entry 50% of the time. Its not rocket science ...it works. BTW....Huddy is an even worse coach than Lowry
Fire the entire coaching staff !!!! I agree with Ross on his choice of coach.
Almost fire sale time for Chevy |

Carlyle and Numminen never played for this franchise. And you missed Housley.
Buff and Postma are fair enough tho |

Lowry is just interim and should be interim. Hopefully the mgmt will go out and find a whole new coaching team at the end of the season. But, PoMo leaves and who can step in as a short notice interim? Not too many options at the time.
It seems that all the teams use that drop pass in the PP to freeze the defenders and gain zone. Wpg use to play that drop pass when Buff was still playing but it is puzzling why a Jets coach won't use this.
Also, might as well keep Perfetti playing up with the Jets until the end of the season. He is ready it seems. Jets miss the playoffs and he can go play Moose playoffs perhaps.

See Dylan Samberg week-to-week with upper body injury. When does the time come when we give Eric Comrie some starts in the cage? |

I agree Schmidt should be moved but I wonder what promises Chevy made to him, when getting him to waive his no trade to come here? He might have to agree to the move first. Making it harder. Not many teams will want that salary. |

Games to be made up:
Jets should beat: Kraken, Sens, Blackhawks
Jets will have a tough battle against: Wild, Edmonton, Wild again, Flames, Stars, Preds
Nothing is guaranteed, but some hard games to be made up, and likely many back-to-back match's too boot. They need to do themselves some favours and start winning now. Samberg needs far more shelter, as the big guy lacks physicality and the ability to tie guys up in front of the net. That is something Pionk, Dillon, Stanley, and Jomo are great at so lets keep rolling them for the time being. Samberg and DeMelo were both unreliable at protecting the puck and making clean exits the past 2 games. - bikeguy99
Hey Bike guy,
I predict Maurice is coaching Devils next season. Thoughts? |
