Or just send him down with a list of "must improve" things. One thing I've noticed, that I hope can be corrected, is he waits a beat or two too long before trying to make the play. By the time he makes the pass, the other team has read the play or the recipient is too deep to do anything with it. Needs to figure out how to pass to where his line mate WILL be (of course that comes with chemistry and line mate consistency, too).

The chances of us going anywhere are slim to none, so I'm fine with him at the pro level, but making him a healthy scratch sends a message, creates shame and the kid has to take a deep look into himself and his teammates. Like it did Borgstrom these kids need to learn how to be consistent with effort on the ice and understand what kind of effort it takes night in and night out to be a pro

Hawks can dress a third and fourth line with the best of them, problem is they only have two or three top six, and one has an injury and another is coming of an illness. Good game so far.

I like this idea. Work on a few things and try not to do too much. Simplify his game and play smart on both sides of the puck
