I have no idea what you are trying to say.

There isn't a good history of defensemen from the Swedish junior league playing in the NHL when they have played their draft plus 1 year more in the junior league vs moving up to the Allsvenskan or the SHL.

The list of 18 year old best seasons in the Swedish junior league is
Philip Nyberg
Filip Berglund
Simon Johansson
Albert Lyckåsen
Samuel Johannesson
Erik Gustafsson
Gustav Berglund
Alex Edler

There are a lot of other defenders that played games but limited games and played more games in the upper league and almost all of them played NHL games.

Even if Myrenberg played 25 games with an SHL club in limited minutes, his comparable players even if he doesn't score a single point is a list of about 10 current NHL defensemen. (varying in quality)

I think he's a little excited.

Actually the opposite.

Development paths are a little different but there is a reason why analytical teams are being created because they give you an idea of outcomes.

Maybe you should think of going gluten-free if you're having these violent mood swings.

Yep impressed with the effort and manufactured a Bettman point in the end. Spencer Martin was jacked for the task which was nice to see. Good on the boys for the effort vs arguably the best club in the league.
- LordHumungous

That was a horrible call against Hoglander. There was no trip at all... body contact on the puck carrier.... useless fux.

I only watched about 10 minutes, but the Poolman-Hugjes pairing earned 2 foam brick tosses, during that time.

Highmore Lammikko and Motte looked very impressive as did Boeser.

Interesting because they were clearly the best pairing for the team Agree with the rest though, Boeser looked good, his linemates not so much.

Yup. They were incredibly patient with Barkov and Huberdeau.
- bloatedmosquito

Reminds me a bit of Petey. We need to be patient and he will dominate again. I think next season you see a player with a renewed sense of compete.

Pavel Buchnevich has been cleared from COVID protocols and is expected to be in the game against the Seattle Kraken at Climate Pledge Arena on Friday (9 p.m. CT, BSMW, 101 ESPN).

But after Friday, things get a little more complicated.

Because of the NHL and NHLPA protocols that were put in place in late December, players that test positive for COVID are required to quarantine for a minimum of five days but can return after that if they have two negative COVID tests.

That's the case with Buchnevich.

But… because going across the border to Canada requires travelers to be at least 10 days removed from a positive test, Buchnevich will not be able to join the team's flight to Vancouver for Sunday's game against the Canucks.

Sunday will be the 10th day since Buchnevich's positive test. As a result, he will stay in Seattle and skate at the Kraken's practice facility before boarding a flight on Monday morning to meet the team in Calgary.

Buchnevich would be eligible to return to the lineup Monday against the Flames.

That's helpful to the Canucks for a night.

The kid was a 5th round pick, were you expecting him to be an instant superstar, in whatever league he played in?

I hope so but again that contract puts way too much pressure on these kids. Look at Huberdeau’s contract history:

1st contract - $895,000
2nd - $925,000
3rd - $3,250,000
4th - $5,900,000

Barkov:
1st - $925,000
2nd - $5,900,000
3rd - $10,000,000

They earned their contracts based on their development and eventual production. These agents who push for huge dollars up front before a player proves themselves are putting their young clients in difficult situations. They may be artificially shortening their clients NHL careers.

I might be a skeptic but I don't see that happening. I also don't find their paths similar. I don't see a guy that gets pushed off the puck, that falls down regularly and playing with minimum confidence rising from the ashes to be a top player all in the next 8 months.

I liked what EP40 Podz and Hogz did the other night but I don't think Boeser or Petey are 30 goal guys.

I don’t think that’s what he’s saying at all. I think what he’s saying is that “based on history” the likelihood of making the NHL when you don’t move up a league in the draft +x season is highly unlikely, even if you are doing very well in the lesser league.

I saw a few Boeser back-checks that stunned me. I didn’t think he had it in him. His foot speed is still a concern but he’s making smarter plays.
- bloatedmosquito

Trade him for a 2nd. He sucks!

Although not an absolute must to move up a league, in the u20 Swedish league specifically, most have moved up to play harder competition.

https://twitter.com/Byron...?cxt=HHwWhMCi0fvh95gpAAAA

Oh wow. Devon Toews hasn't crossed 200 games yet but when he does he will do so as a star and not even just a fringe star. He's way up there! A rather insane late bloomer Toews is. Lou done got hosed on that trade.

These types of crazy improvements are very rare now a days.

5th round picks seldom make the nhl, so I don't think mini is explaining anything to anyone, that they aren't already aware of.

Interesting take - The pressure of performing and living up to these bigger, bloated (pun intended) 2nd contracts is more of a mental hurdle that the younger guys are failing to adjust to??
Obviously, we won't know for another few years how or if Petey, Boeser, Hughes, will overcome those issues and have solid careers. Personally, I think despite their slumps - they will - but we shall see.
