Seen neither but will look for them. Saw The Clash open for The Who in Seattle in '82. Saw Strummer playing with The Pogues at The Commodore in '89, as well. He was fun in Alex Cox's "Straight to Hell" and I was a fan of The Mescaleros. Among my favourite muscians. |

I always considered them rockabilly, not punk. Sure they dressed kind of punk/teddy boy but the music doesn’t sound punk to me. IMO, saying Stray Cats are punk is like saying Boston is heavy metal.
Now if you were to say Green Day had punk roots I would agree, but Stray Cats… not sure.

Yeah I don't see them as a punk band either - I meant they came from that scene and it was a punk mentality, not necessarily a genre. |
