Hockey teams have defined roles, team toughness doesn't compensate for not having a tough guy on the team to keep the other team at bay and allow the kids to play. This role hasn't been eliminated from the game, organized fighting is the only thing gone.

Adams plans to bring in at least 2 more teenagers to an NHL roster, ignoring this toughness role will ensure they stay at the bottom.

I know he's not a forward, but my hope is Samuelsson becomes this guy. He already hits everything that moves, and might be a deterrent going forward. Guys a keeper for sure. Power could also develop into that if he gets a mean streak with his size.

Great player and part of the future but not the guy we want in this role.
