Hard to create offense when you can't get out of your own end - Buff36
The Sabres offense is way more to blame for the amount of shots they give up.
They are a bad transition team outside of a few forwards and do not have sustained offensive pressure.
The defense is constantly being attacked in their zone because our forwards barely control the puck.

One of the biggest problems for the Sabres over the years has been team defense. And that includes back checking forwards and defensive awareness from blueliners. A lot of heat on Dell for last night but look at where the Stars shots came from. Almost exclusively from the top of the circle on down. A veteran team like the Stars knew where to attack a weak Sabres defense. - Michael Pachla
Totally agree. Team defence has to improve. The offence looks like it is heading in the right direction. No doubt there is a bright future ahead. |

Sustained possession is not something this Sabres team has been doing and that is the forwards fault. There is one line that seems to be able to hang on to the puck and that's it.

Team GF/60 is 25th. Their xGF/60 is 31st. Considering the injury circus and the lack of scoring talent we've had basically all year, this adds up. Having Mitts Thompson and Cozens should be fun, along with adding Quinn Krebs Tuch. Olofsson died. Skinner's relevant so that's cool. Everyone else on offense is just a turd in the toilet.

very bright as witnessed last night...and they need to focus on putting the best possible team they can on the ice beginning next year...one thing we all agree upon, which is very unusual to begin with, is that they need to upgrade goaltending...another thing we all agree upon (which is even more scary for these threads) is that they need to get a bona fide top-four defender |

Do you think this is why we also don't get many PP opportunities per game? We're only averaging 2.65 PP attempts/game this season and I feel like this explains it. |

For sure
The Thompson line (whoever he’s with ) is the only consistent offensive line on the team.

They go hand in hand, that's why it's called team defense. Horrible passing in your zone makes any transition game hard. |

He's been analytically excellent for over a month. Even relative to his teammates, he's been playing at an exceptional level. This Dahlin would be at least a #2 defenseman on all 32 teams. |

Would you rather pay Kadri 7m for 6 years or trade both Floridas and Vegas 1sts this year for Travis Konecny? - washedup20
I wouldn't give up both firsts for him. Good player, but that's steep imo. Don't know why it would have to be either or, but I get your point on would have to probably overpay Kadri to come. He is a tough player to play against though, and most likely the duration of the contract amount wouldn't be an issue cap wise, at least not until the last 2 years. |

Not sure what's going on with the Dahlin hyperbole around here. All I know is that he's a great player and he's established a pattern of being a diesel engine in 5 degree weather.

You know how it goes around here. Say something once or a hundred times (Quinn) it gets brought up til the end of time. I'm already bracing for the Quinn is a bad pick to be throw at me 30 times a year. All you can do sometimes is just go ehh bad take, I'll eat it. |

The Quinn bashing was extensive and undeserved, at (frank)ing best.
