That's my only worry. Campbell sliding to the mean. Need Mrazek to step up into the mean as well. Not saying Campbell is failing, but expecting him to be a top-5 goalie in the league was always a stretch.

So true story (not a Wedgie true story but a true story none the less).

In a past work life one of the parts of the organization I worked for required me to be at the Prize Centre in downtown Toronto where the OLG makes people go to claim big prizes (over 10K I believe).

That process includes an interview to ensure they are the rightful owner of the ticket etc. but it also includes the big cheque presentation up on stage with the media present etc.

I watched so many people, groups of people get interviewed after winning millions of dollars I lost count.

Then I'd leave work and go home and make myself a bologna sandwich and a bowl of cheerios for dinner and watch whatever my TV could pick up on rabbit ears with tin foil on them.

Good times.

Ok it was all true except the dinner and TV exaggeration but man some days it stung to see that and think "why couldn't I have won that" - especially when the winner was either some schmuck who clearly didn't need it or a garbage person in general.

Now on the upside one of the checks they do when someone claims a prize is they run the winner through the Family Responsibility Office database to see if they have outstanding child support payments. If they do the outstanding debt is deducted from the payout. Seeing a scumbag who was thousands of dollars in arrears on child support payments think they were getting a big cheque and then be told in some cases the entire winning amount was credited to their debt and they now "only owned X amount" was very satisfying to watch!

There were some fairly epic meltdowns and on occasion a requirement for police to attend. Those ones were extra delicious to watch - the denial of funds to deadbeat, the freak out and then them being arrested!

Acquiring 1 or 2 defensive minded d-man is one thing .... but if the style of play is to continue attacking and pinching regardless of whether the opportunity is there means that things won't change. All you're doing is putting more players into a system that doesn't fit their skillset.

Muzzin got into the league by being defensive-minded and minimizing risk. In TO they've got him pinching, and in on forecheck when he doesn't have the foot speed or skillset. Put him back in the same style as they played in LA and you'll see his effectiveness return - and not floundering like he is now.

Couple this with forwards who are solely thinking of offense instead of covering for a pinching d-man only compounds the problem.

But, there's no way Dubas wants to stop with the attacking style because he 'believes' in it and his analytics say it'll work. So, nothing will change with the Leafs performance and results ..... and Dubas will be out of job by late spring.
