Maybe we have a chance against Tampa? They gotta be tired of always winning
- PatC80

No one ever gets tired of beating the leafs.
Tampa beats the leafs and then gets swept next round.
Its the leafs way

I'll never understand the Ceci signing.
Barrie, I get it...needed a puck moving dman. He's on for 40pts, not bad.

Dermott looked so bad and so overwhelmed on Wednesday that I think I'm out of hope for him. I think, at 25, this is who he is - a 200lb guy who will play 180, and sometimes make good decisions with the puck.

I don't know if replacing him with a plug like Schenn helps, but I also don't know if it hurts.

Pass on moving Dermott for Schenn

Schenn can barely play the 5/6 spot.

Good 7th, and short term low mins filler when needed.

Dermott is what he is, a 3rd pairing d that can drive play. Also an affordable contract.

Luke Schenn is worse...but its to accrue more space for the TDL.

Creating a small hole now so they can do more later.

I also don't think playing the (frank) out of Sandin and Lil is a bad thing either...muzzin and Holl might be more safe but a week or 2 like this could be good for their development and being able to rely on them more in playoffs.

Dermott needs to simplify...everything.
Tries to be too fancy sometimes.....just get back to the basics.
Get the puck pass it out.

ho hum, just a 1st round matchup against the 2 time cup champs after the leafs (probably) put up the most points in team history.

maybe next year is our year!!!

I cant help but again harp on (cry) about how much of a missed op it was last season. this team

- senstroll

Ok it's Friday and that fact alone has be looking at the glass and saying maybe it's half full.

IF the Leafs did end up playing Tampa in the 1st round and won that series imagine the upside!!!

1. It takes away the chirp from other teams fanbases that the Leafs had an easy
path to whatever round they make it to including a cup win!

2. I can only imagine the level of confidence this team would have if they knocked
off the defending champs in the 1st round. They would very likely (if not for
certain) have had to play "the right way" to beat Tampa and one could only
hope that they would finally "get it" and keep on playing that way as they
continued in the playoffs. They would have to think this was their year and they
were capable of beating anyone at that point.

3. Leafs would be the the best....again?

Where did he land?

I remember seeing a vid of a police chase of a small pick up (ford ranger or 80's Chevy s10) many moons ago. The guy stole a used lawn mover and was running all the lights successfully......except one. One red light had a Transport truck going through a green light, it t-boned him and the little pick up completely disappeared into small pieces.
I couldnt believe what I had saw.

I 100% agree with your Dermott assessment, and I'll still take him over Schenn.

Unless we then flip Schenn for JVR.

So true story (not a Wedgie true story but a true story none the less).

In a past work life one of the parts of the organization I worked for required me to be at the Prize Centre in downtown Toronto where the OLG makes people go to claim big prizes (over 10K I believe).

That process includes an interview to ensure they are the rightful owner of the ticket etc. but it also includes the big cheque presentation up on stage with the media present etc.

I watched so many people, groups of people get interviewed after winning millions of dollars I lost count.

Then I'd leave work and go home and make myself a bologna sandwich and a bowl of cheerios for dinner and watch whatever my TV could pick up on rabbit ears with tin foil on them.

Good times.

Ok it was all true except the dinner and TV exaggeration but man some days it stung to see that and think "why couldn't I have won that" - especially when the winner was either some schmuck who clearly didn't need it or a garbage person in general.

Now on the upside one of the checks they do when someone claims a prize is they run the winner through the Family Responsibility Office database to see if they have outstanding child support payments. If they do the outstanding debt is deducted from the payout. Seeing a scumbag who was thousands of dollars in arrears on child support payments think they were getting a big cheque and then be told in some cases the entire winning amount was credited to their debt and they now "only owned X amount" was very satisfying to watch!
