Notice how one team is patiently holding onto the puck and hitting regroups in the neutral zone with players streaking through the NZ to gain entry and attack the net. The other team is dumping it in, putting it into puck battle along the wall and giving the puck up.

Bob Mackenzie released his mid season draft list as well. @ tsn.ca. Says a lot of the same things. Draft is below average by a lot of accounts, but as many scouts are pointing out that may have a lot to do with the lack of games a lot of guys have played in the last 18 months….as well scouts have not been able to travel as freely so it’s probably fair to assume.
Savoie plays with Connor McClennon a Flyer draft pick, who last time I looked was leading the WHL in goals.

I thought it was a good, deep draft?

There are a lot of smallish, fastish, high skilled players now playing center. But he is on the small end of even that spectrum. That his puck handling is only average scares me. So is the fact that his median projection is middle 6 (bubble top line)

Having said all that, I don't really know/understand what qualities of a player translate/survive/can be augmented from juniors to pro.

i thought all his other skills are above average, if only his puck handling is nhl average and everything else is above, sounds pretty good to me, just wish he was 6'1"

mcclennon is tiny too. i dont mind small, but tk is small, Frost plays small, sandheim plays small, cam is small. we'd get killed on the boards

i do remember the experts saying that, last year was weak but this coming draft should be a good one. Seems like everyone is entitled to change their mind except flyers fans lol

He is small. That’s why he lasted to the 6th rd. But he was the second over all pick in the WHL draft. Cole Caufield is tiny as well…so you never know. Can’t teach scoring like that….not sure it would carry over to the pro’s, but he’s a pretty skilled kid.

I think panarins window is now, they should trade picks to complement and go for it. They have 2 kids that wont even peak until Panarin is on his down slide. They dont need picks who may or may not turn out.
- bradster

Panarin is just in his prime not near downswing. He didnt come into league till he was like 23. Barring injury he has many many yrs of high end hockey left.

No doubt. He's the kind of player barring any serious injury will be a strong player well into his 30's.

Very weak attempt at getting the puck out of the zone.
