Can I assume that’s a NHL record? - Hosher12
Probably not, because if it were we'd have heard about it here. lol

Didn’t everyone on here just complain about developing players? In regards to Alison. Can’t stay healthy, immediately call him up after a handful of games? What kind of logic is that? Let the kid play and get his footing in the AHL. - ClaudeFather
The problem is that Allison could get hurt while making the trip to Philly.

So I AM partially correct?
PS I’m very impressed with your math skills!! - Hosher12
You are indeed.
Well, I cheated. 20% loss over 5 years equals 100%, and what that 100% represents is there on the link. 160 m <1% of 1.6 b <0.001 of 1.8T.
More to the point, its not that much, frankly, over 5 years.

What exactly is up with that kid? Why does he get hurt in different ways in different parts of his bodies all the time? |

my guess-
He gets to the puck, I love his routes and his nose for the play. He is always around the puck and in the battle, add in he gets there at full speed. I said the same thing before he got hurt in pre-season. Everything you want from a player but lots of risk while he is doing it. The rest is just bad luck. |

Comcast's FY2020 revenue was $130.560B. $32M (1 year of revenue loss) is about 0.03%
Not sure how much they'd really care. - Scoob
Comcast only owns 63% of Spectacor so they wouldn't even take the full brunt of any losses. |

His routes? You mean via I-95?
Kidding.
But again, the same can be said for many players. They are not perpetually injured. He looks like a big strong kid, too. |

company that size wants to operate at a loss, the real income is buried in the returns.

cant explain it, just watching him, he is a little different. Most is just luck, kid can stay healthy he will be a really good 3rd line winger who could play up and get 25 goals a season

Problem is, quarterly earnings come in even a tiny bit lower than expected, market freaks, share prices tumble, and suddenly, all those Comcast fat cats most of whose compensation is in share or share-based incentives lose out bigly.
There is probably a loss floor for their Flyers gig. |

York had 13 minutes last game.
Trade deadline is two months and 23 games away. - Feanor
That's fine 23 games of losing they dont need to be around . Let them develop another 6 weeks and when smoke clears bring them up and give them quality minutes..York averaged over 20 minutes prior to last game |

I honestly had to look up Savoie.
Here is what Pronman said about him yesterday (I know high high an esteem many of you hold him in)
8. Matt Savoie, C, Winnipeg (WHL)
Jan. 1, 2004 | 5′ 9.0″ | 179 pounds
Oct. 2021 Ranking: 7
Tier: Projected bubble top and middle of the lineup player
Skating: Above NHL average
Puck skills: NHL average
Hockey sense: Above NHL average
Compete: Above NHL average
Shot: Above NHL average
Background: Savoie has been one of the top players in the WHL as a 17-year-old, helping to lead Winnipeg to the top of the standings. He was a point/game in the USHL as a 16-year-old. Savoie was the top pick in his WHL Bantam Draft after applying for and being denied exceptional status to play at the age of 15. He played at the U17 Challenge for Canada as a 15-year-old and was a top player.
Analysis: It’s not a novel take to say that a leading CHL scorer as a first-year draft eligible in Savoie is a very talented scorer. He stands out with the puck on his stick and can attack in a variety of ways. Savoie is an excellent passer who can hit seams at a high rate and make tough plays under duress. He has very good hands to maneuver in traffic. He has good speed to beat opponents wide and he has a shot that can score from range. Savoie lacks ideal NHL size, but he competes hard and wins a surprising amount of battles for his size. He doesn’t have incredible speed and skill for a 5-foot-9 player so he may be moved to the wing in the NHL, but regardless I see him as a very good top six forward. |

Yes, there probably is. But on a quarterly basis a revenue loss from their share of the Flyers wouldn't even be a rounding issue. And they may even be able to make some non-core adjustments for "restructuring" the Flyers organization so while GAAP results may be affected (possibly invisibly) their as-adjusted discussion with investors would not be affected at all.
I'm not sure what it would take for Comcast to sell the Flyers to a smaller ownership group that would actually care about it. |

If those two kids hit, which I think the will, they'll be a juggernaut and a real problem moving forward. - MJL
I dont think either will be super stars but expect both will be top 6 wingers. Hard to believe but dont think they have a player, other then Reaves. Over 30 yrs old. Be interesting to see what they add at deadline. Still think Giroux would be very appealing to them along with Braun |

With Covid, generational trends and everything, they may identify sports/arena entertainment as a dying business and sell off their shares of Spectacor. |

2022 was supposed to be a pretty hot draft, but many of the better players have started slowly.
I think it's gonna be one of those drafts where you don't necessarily have to be in the top-5 picks to come out with the best player overall.

Yeah we are on different page with this one. They can compete with anyone tight now and think a few pieces could make them legit Cup contenders. Trading a 20-30 spot 1st rd pick...Kratsov and maybe Chytil or Lundqvist for what they need wont hurt them. They also have two 2nds |

I think they need some playoff seasoning but you never know. Trade Kratsov if he is not in their future but save the other future assets. When they grow more as a team, they'll be routinely in the upgrade at the deadline business. Add some more prospects. They can also be traded and used as assets. To be clear, I think the Rangers are going to take your approach. |

They aren't selling the Flyers. Comcast's strategy is to vertically integrate content (Flyers are this), in-person experience, and distribution. It's worth way more to them as an integrated part of the value chain than any individual investor group could justify. Mediocre performance of one property isn't going to change their long-term strategy on this. Flyers are a small piece of their overall strategy.
