it could. I see you're ready to make that bet.
I'm not.
anyway, what would it change? they're not winning anytime soon, so might as well trade him too.

not necessarily bet on it, just saying it would be silly to think it's completely impossible.

obviously it will depends on what Hughes sees in DD, but more than that, it will depend on what they do with the team.
let say they're able to trade 3-4 players this summer and expect to tank again next year, there's no point in bringing a new coach. as a GM you don't want to burn your guy with a mediocre team expected to lose. in that case I could see DD stay. if of course Hughes thinks DD can be a good coach for the kids, which I do not doubt.

- fidopro

Agreed. My worry with DD is his communication and does he have the ability to let the kids play and learn. Sometimes a new coach can be beneficial before the best days simply because they can implement there strategies and build the team up from day one. Not saying DD can't, but if I'm betting the farm, he gone at year end.

oh I know you didn't exactly say that, but you were hinting that it was very unlikely.

best days are far far away. like 3 years away (minimum). you can keep DD for 1 year or 2 and then bring in the new guy. imho

absolutely. not impossible, but not likely either. and like I said, what would it change? they're not winning anytime soon any way. who ever plays goal.

meh, they might lose a lot less too, and developing kids in an environment where you actually have a chance to win games is much more positive. anyway, we'll see.

-It was a dream come true to be named president of hockey operations for the most prized team in sports, said Fidopro to reporters present at the Bell center on this march 11th of 2029. And I'm proud to announce that Pat1993 will be named GM of the organization. Let me be clear, Pat1993 is not exactly my best friend, but I wanted to have a never ending discussion before taking any decision. I'm sure we will find our first ever aspect of the team on which we will agree during our 5 years tenure. We've known each other for a long time.

And yet you were the right guy for the job!

I agree most of the time with your assesment of the habs, but seems the new GM is less picky on words! (Rebuild, retool, its likely we're up for a couple of difficult years).

yep, next 2 years won't be fun. (like the past 4-5 btw)
at the same time, it's a good timing. next 2 drafts are supposed to be very good, competition in the division fearless... perfect timing for a rebuild to be ready when other teams start slowing down.
trade all you can, and be patient.

and I'm way too french for the job

Gorton EXCELS at drafting....the scouting department is overseen by a scouting wizard in Gorton....so thats a good place to start...Hughes will help balance Gorton and I see a solid foundation has been set. #gohabsgo!
