In mTL HOF reporter or not, he would have been stripped of his press credentials and hung on the wall à la Handmaid’s Tale lol

Price is the type of deal you make in the offseason so everyone has time to make the money work. I could see that deal happening at the draft tbh

- Karine Hains

Price has been in the off season for quite some time now, no?

His resume speaks for itself, worst case you may need to make his medical records available to a team looking to acquire. Either way there's not many teams who can absorb a deal that size in season and there aren't a lot of teams with space to use as cap dumps. A stagnant cap is going to make dumping salary a lot harder and more likely to happen offseason. Chiarot is attractive for a lot of reasons including at 50% retained he's only a $1.75m cap hit

oh considering his salary I thought that was a given. I agree cap-wise it's gonna be very complicated, which imho reinforces the need to see him play and properly evaluate where he's at performance-wise beforehand.

Last time he played he took the poop sandwich we watch a few times a week to within 3 games of a Cup. His resume should be enough

When he plays meaningful games he's still proven to be elite. If you're Holland how would you explain to Mcwienerhead that you had the chance to get Price but decided to run it back with Koskinen and or Smith? I think his reputation is still well respected outside of internet fans who scream about salary

I find the combination of the personal issues he's been dealing with, his intense injury history, and the salary cap hit it entails will make basically any GM want to see the guy play before pulling the trigger, his resume doesn't outweigh this, imho. but yeah perhaps I'm wrong and someone will be willing to take the risk.

Holland was willing to take Keith without any salary reserved and gave up futures for the opportunity to do so. Price at 50% salary is much more attractive to me. Seriously, take a look around the league at some of the goalies making +/- $1m from the $5.25m Price's cap hit would he at 50%. It isn't pretty in a lot of cases

Habs would have to eat something line 40% of his salary in a trade to make it work. Price at 6M cap hit would draw interest. The question is...does Molson and the new Mgmt group want to carry Carey 4.5M in cap hit for another 4yrs for a player playing with another team?

agreed, but perhaps in retrospect they're now considering the Keith trade as a mistake, and they want to avoid a second one. to me trading for Price without seeing how comfortable he is with his knee situation doesn't make much sense.

For the crossed out stuff, it's a sunk cost...they need to decide where the greater value is and it should be clear the value is in futures

Price wins big games. The Oilers don't. McDavid and Draisaitl clearly are frustrated. How many more seasons can they risk with questionable goaltending? And that's just one of 30 teams.

If the Habs are willing to eat salary I have little doubt they can both move Price and get a decent return on it...and I'm a pessimist

good question, it does kinda suck, but I guess it'll be the necessary pain to deal with if they do want to go down the trade route.

According to Louis Jean, these are 10 of the 11 candidates they met for the GM job. Maybe Emilie Castonguay is the 11th?

Moving a salary the size of Price, given the cap situation of both the Habs and the majority of teams who would want to acquire a player with a large salary is going to be really tough in season/at the deadline. Seems much more likely as an offseason move just due to cap situations alone...dollar for dollar moves are tough

I still think it will be Price ( with salary retention) for Girard, a pick and a tool for salary dump

Sounds like it'd make some sense. Once you get beyond making dollars match I've got no (frank)ing clue what assets they'd be looking for but Girard would buy them a lot of good will with the media/culture people, especially if moving Price out
