Absolutely they will. IMO the only way Price doesn't get moved is if somehow, the Habs can pull a Chicago/Red Wings/Habs con job to convince the NHL that Price's career is over due to injuries and escape the cap hit. Otherwise he will be traded. If Leafs could trade Phaneuf, Habs can trade Price. - winsix
I had to check - he had five years remaining on his contract (not counting the rest of the year when we traded him).
Not crazy about Chapman. Good power sure, but the strikeout and batting average are crappy. Would much rather Jose Ramirez even if it costs more - and it would. - winsix
was a 7.6 war player in 2018 and 2019
been down a bit since, but Elite defense.. led MLB last season in OAA for 3b with 17
(ramirez had 7)
if the cost is similar, sure go for Ramirez. But a good consolation prize would be Chapman

I love The Cars. - Zezel
Saw them at the Gardens, was a super short concert, they didn't have alot of material. If I recall correctly the back up group was Boston, but i could be wrong.

So this is an interesting debate - is he worthy of having his jersey retired?
It's a pretty high bar in Montreal.
And related - does he go to the HHOF?
In terms of individual awards, he had one outstanding season, winning the Hart, Jennings, Vezina and Lindsay awards.
Other than that, the trophy case is bare.
At the international level, one gold in the Olympics. 0.6 GAA, .972 sv%, but the team was ridiculous.
Gold at WJC, tournament MVP.
And keep in mind, it's almost impossible for goalies to go to the HHOF.
Check out the goalie inductee list since 1988:
1988: Tony Esposito
1989: Tretiak
1993: Billy Smith
2003: Grant Fuhr
2006: Patrick Roy
2011: Ed Belfour
2014: Dominic Hasek
2016: Rogie Vachon (wtf?)
2018: Martin Brodeur
2020: Kim St. Pierre
So in 38 years, 10 goalies, two who weren't in the NHL, one who was from the previous era.
Tough to say Price makes the cut.
I remember when Belfour was elected, and there were tons of people who said he shouldn't have made it. - Atomic Wedgie
Huh. Never thought of this. It's the most important position in hockey and they're not in the hall. Shouldn't Cujo be in there? Who else. Lolongo? Dryden? Turk Broda? Parent?

OMG. I listened to their greatest hits today. So good.
Personally if I were Dubas I’d explore finding a way to get Chychrun. It would be a hefty cost but worth it IMO. Leafs have (frank) all for prospects, so ARI would likely pass on that.
If not Chych, then Klingberg should be the target.

I don't get the fuss with Manea. . . he's basically a .500 pitcher. Maybe you get a 13-12, or if you're lucky a 14-10 year out of him. Chapman has seen his OPS+ run down year over year from 137, 127, 120 to 100. Meanwhile his strikeout rate has climbed from 22-23% to over 32% in his past 2 years. He feels like he's Chris Davis-ing and I'd want no part of it.

Dryden, Broda and Parent were inducted before 1988

I think Manaea couldbe good, if he had a team that could consistently put up 10 runs per start.

I saw them at the Gardens in the 80's . . .I was in high school, so it was sometime between '84 and '88, I guess.
They had a giant wheel thing, and other huge effects (blow up stuff, and whatnot). The band moved on stage so infrequently, they could have been cardboard cutouts or mannequins. I remember at one point someone lifted a leg and my buddy said, "Holy poop, they are real!"
It might have been the same concert - I don't recall it being short, but I do recall it being boring.

Sure, Chapman's strikeouts are insanely high, but Gold Glove defense.

What's interesting is Matt Knies is from Phoenix and looking like a terrific prospect. They'd love to get their hands on him. Knies, 1st, Niemela.

first Pitcher wins is a terribly useless stat.
A player the jays signed had this 5 year OPS+ run when they signed him
99
97
95
139
89
a .755 ops over that span. (semien)
You hope Chapmans offence bounces back again, but his D is pretty amazing

It wasn't the same show. I saw them earlier than that, fist time at the El Mocambo, they played the Gardens only twice, in 1979 and 1987. They did play the CNE in 1980 and 84
