If by some miracle Nazem Kadri wins the Art Ross...will he be histories greatest anomaly? Or would that be reserved for Jamie Benn still?
- AdamFrench

Considering Benn won it with what.... 87 points?

He'll remain the anomaly.

Your head is in the sand or someplace else if you think this d group can take a team deep in the playoffs.

The defensive issues last night were far more wide spread than just the actual D group - several forwards were absolutely terrible defensively last night. Missed assignments, guys left wide open all over the place that's the whole group not following the system.

On one goal there were 3 Leafs puck watching in the corner while a Ranger was sitting in front of the net wide open - that can't happen if you want to win. Granted there were some defencemen who were terrible last night and Soupy was m'eh but I don't think anyone escapes the wrath of Keefe in the video sessions and on ice practice today/tomorrow and rightfully so.

They need a good blast and dressing down after that game. The captain was nothing shy of terrible last night and he's supposed to lead. You can't have your 3rd line as your best line by a country mile against a team like the Rangers nor can you waste scoring 3 goals on a goalie who has a GAA of under 1!

There was no forechecking or real sustained pressure from them either after the first. The fourth line was awful. They Kase back so they can push someone (I guess Engvall) back down but they were overrun all night.

Anyone see what the Leafs lighting up" the Rangers goalie last night did to the NHL goalie stats?

Guess who has the lowest GAA in the entire league right now? (yes, yes I know insert the "but he can't win in a game 7 comment here).

And the guy with the worst GAA in the league is the one some folks wanted the Leafs to trade for and is the subject of the main blog on the site. Korpy with 3.95 GAA in 14 games - yikes!

Nice to see some of the bigger names bounce back and climb into respectable places like Bob and Holtby and even Quick at #14 (although Kings fans will not like that he is there because he's paid more than a mid range guy) and Optimus Reims at 17.

It was terrible.. I know defense is a team game, but they hung Campbell out to dry.. Some brutal d-zone mistakes.. The Reaves line could not be contained.. We need someone bigger than Sandin on Reaves

Imagine how much anger there would be in here if the Leafs had made the cup finals last year and lost and then were putting up numbers this year like the Habs are?

A buddy of mine is a huge Habs fan and he actually texted me last night after the leafs lost chirping me saying Campbell couldn't stop a beach ball and this was the start of the collapse.

I didn't even have the heart to reply, I just let him have it. If it made him feel better about this hockey season it's worth it.

Good they deserved an ugly loss.

Also, Rangers aren't a slouch these days. Good tending. Good D.

Respectfully disagree - but not completely. While there were some very weak defensive plays by Leaf D-men and forwards, I thought Dermott and JT were particularly bad, the goalie has to do better than Campbell did last night.

Shesterkin GA 3 SA 38 SV 35 SV % .921
Campbell GA 5 SA 26 SV 21 SV % .808

To add to this, it must have been relatively demoralizing to work hard for a lead against a very good team and watch a thug with virtually zero offensive ability score two goals, the second was a terrible goal. I'm a big fan and supporter of Campbell, he stunk last night.

All this said, Leaf stopped moving their feet in the 2nd and 3rd periods. The best line was the third line.

Rangers are very good, big and dirty, Leafs do not match up well against them.

We're getting a top 5 pick and new management that looks pretty damn competent.

This season is (frank)ing awesome.

Can't wait for the year where Askarov, Shesterskin (butchered it) and Vasilesvki are the Vezina finalists.

We don't have Canadian goalies on par at this time. I honestly don't know any beyond Price and Carter Hart.

Not really. If you told me Johansen, Duchene and Granlund would play like they were paid to and the Preds were NOT a playoff team, then I would be worried.

What's going on with Price.

Still personal problem? Re-injured knee? Habs don't want to risk last place?

It's the Tim Murray game plan. Any goalie with a SV % above .700 will either be traded or sent to the AHL or Robidas Island. Habs are hoping Sam Montembeault can get his SV % below .700 and stay with the club for the rest of the year. If he has another good game, he's gone.

Knee.

And this sounds like a cheap shot at the Habs and Carey, but it isn't:

If he isn't 100%, there's absolutely no reason for him to go back this year.

If he's healthy, no way the Habs don't try to trade him. Oilers are sitting there just waiting to get fished in.
