Since a player’s cap hit is applied to a team’s finances on a daily basis, anyone acquired today would be added at half of their original average annual value. That is to say, as PuckPedia explains on Twitter, a player with a full-season cap hit of $5MM would only need $2.5MM in cap space from here on out. With more than 60 percent of the games left for some teams, that offers some increased value for any acquisition—basically, they’ll play in more games for the new team than they’re paid for.
This opportunity is most apparent for teams that have been able to stay out of long-term injured reserve, accruing cap space all season. The Wild, for instance, are on track to have more than $15MM in deadline cap space according to CapFriendly, obviously enough to add several impact players. The Bruins meanwhile will have more than $8.2MM in deadline cap space, and have played fewer games than all of the other contenders in the Atlantic Division. - manvanfan
Team depth allows good teams to absorb injuries to accrue LTIR cap room. Downside is next season to be compliant. |

Honestly, I didn't find the questions to be out of line. I also thought Drai was the one who escalated the conflict. I found it to be quite refreshing that Matheson actually returned the attitude. Good on him. - Load Management
As mentioned, I’m enjoying the hostilities. Better than your typical canned questions and responses.
The situation that makes me laugh the most is when they interview boxers immediately after the fight is over. The poor (frank)er has been punched in the head for 30 minutes and some idiot is asking them how they feel about the state of boxing. |

He eventually admitted a new voice was needed. - Load Management
It was a very good interview, as much as Baumgartner was maligned in here, his replies to some difficult questions was quite good. He is knowledgeable, articulate, took ownership for for team failures of PP, PK, and admitted the team needed a new voice.
Some guys can't ever get a tiny bit of respect, the fans are "know it alls" regarding every subject, process and thought that happens in a clubs dynamics. |

Yeah, same. I think it's quite entertaining. You have to think some of it's measured to take the focus off the team. Neither guy got personal.
Probably the funniest one I saw fairly recently was when Connor MacGregor broke his leg against Poirier. Literally seconds after his leg folded in the most disgusting way and he's sitting on the mat in agony, the UFC shoves a mic in his face. He answered the questions though......and some people think hockey players have it rough with press. |

All very nice & flowery but a coach squeezes the best outta players or doesn’t belong.
