I just can't root against the Fmen yet in this way. Both of these guys could turn into something. Losing picks in this manner would be painful.

Philly or the state of florida (an example? If your a few months away from potential free agency. Money is equal for all. So what selling point do the Flyers have presently?

Hopefully Brink and others in college go the free agency route.

Hopefully? Now that sounds like a real Flyers fan!

He played 20+ minutes in the one game that he was up and looked good and definitely better than KY or NS. He does not look all that different than Petersen on the Pens to me. He certainly deserves a longer look.
- iamscore2day

yep he does. Yeo just an ext of the archaic ways of AV.

I don't know, if I were one of these two, I would be excited to know I have a real chance to crack the lineup next season give the state the team is in. Again, you can't overreact to a down season, the Flyers will figure this out. Right now I think both players will be here in some way next season.

This organization needs to hit the absolute rock bottom. Seeing guys you drafted walk is a step in that direction.

And he will get it at some point, I'm just always worried a player of his stature will get hurt if you rush him up to quickly. I am worried about York the same way but so far he seems to be able to play smart and not get killed out there.

"Fmen" means flyers. I should really say "F-org" as I am not hating on team (not all of them, anyway). It is a good question but our answer is not as good right now.

You asked what he could do now. This is something and it would be an improvement. He should be able to watch him and get more info about the risk that concerns you. Cliff is not being patient on this in my view, he is being dumb.

I hope your right. I don’t care if they crack the lineup in their first year…but they need to show legit path’s for these kids if indeed they are “good enough”. I have not seen enough of any of these kids to know or form a legit opinion. I’m hoping the Flyers get some what lucky on one of those kids.

I agree, but after watching yet another year of this I think the Flyers need to move on….hate saying it, but they are not within 2 years of being a contender and it’s fair to assume G is not going to get better as we move along. I don’t see a point in bringing him back at anywhere close to his cap hit.
- landros 2

All true. I do respect his loyalty. If they do move him, I hope it is somewhere he can actually win the cup.

It took TB 10 years to win the Cup after drafting Stamkos and 9 years after drafting Hedman. It was not until they got very fortunate with Kucherov and Point that they were able to elevate.
- MJL

It only took them 6 years to reach the Stanley cup final where the #1 overall pick in 2008 and #2 overall draft pick in 2009 lost to the #1 overall draft pick in 2007 and the #3 draft pick in 2006.

TB lost 4 games to 2 to CHI and between them had 2 #1 overall, 1 #2 overall, 1 #3 overall. Not to mention TB went to 4 conference finals in addition to a Stanley cup before finally winning one.

If Chicago and Tampa Bay are failures, sign me up.

I understand there are no guarantees of success but not doing it guarantees failure.

They can’t win, they show little fight when things go bad, they lack elite talent and they are tied to some awful contracts for aging under performing vet’s who are next to impossible to move, and can’t stay healthy. Yes these guys are good enough to keep them out of 31rst place…and away from drafting elite talent in the first few picks of a draft. They have lost any semblance of a identity. That to me is rock bottom.

The organization also did a great job of surrounding them with talent through the draft , trades and free agency, something the current and former regimes in Philly were unable to do with G, Jake, Simmer, Coots and Schenn.

My point is that you have to build the team around the top stars or otherwise you're just Edmonton. It's a process that really takes years to get there. Hopefully as you pointed out, there is gradual improvement and you are competitive and fun to watch along the way. You can't rush it like the Flyers have always tried to do except for the Hextall period. The Flyers philosophy of team building is archaic and ineffective.

No, it can be worse like when Fletcher does more TWEAKS this offseason.

Hayes, Ellis & maybe Coutourier are awful contracts.

And I'm assuming CF never heard of the SUNK COST FALLACY as he will prove with his over market-value signing of Risto in the off season.

I think we are agreeing here. It does take more than just the top end talent but that talent is an essential ingredient on a Stanley Cup team. A good supporting cast and time to grow together will also be required.

Not to get off topic but there was an article on the Eagles and Carson Wentz regarding the sunk cost fallacy. The Eagles could've kept Wentz because of all the money they already paid him but instead realized they were better off without him and that the money was gone either way so opted to improve their team. Whether or not they do anything prudent with the 1st round pick is debatable.

Gee, Zamula looked better than either of those defensemen. Honigberg may well be better than them too. What about Sandin and Sushko? They could be improvements too. Then we might also learn something about our young guys. If he had not blundered with NAK, he might still be here. So, yeah, he does have options and had more before he demoted NAK to keep another team's cast-off.
- iamscore2day

If NAK was still here, we would be complaining about him daily also. It didnt work with him here
