Against Columbus sure

Against Montreal no. They should have been able to beat them still… it was Matthews and Marner who (frank)ed that up.

Rentals don't work.. Some do , some don't. Fans will not get over the ones that don't. You prolly loved the pickup before the playoffs. Easy to point after the fact.

I did not, I said at the time I wasnt a fan of paying for grit/leadership...said the price was high...but id give it a chance...wel cuz I fully expected the leafs to win rd 1...with or without him

Here's Laracque's side of the story, although he doesn't name the reporter:

He does - he names Matheson (he says, "I think"). All I was saying was that Myhres' book doesn't make mention of Laraque telling him the media was saying he was talking crap before the game. You'd think you'd mention that.

I agree that his recollection may not be the best all things considered.

Just commenting - I can't believe Drouin gets a fine for cross checking a downed player in the head - even a 1 game suspension sends the message. Once again, I don't understand the DoPS except to sincerely believe that the guy in charge has his favourite teams that he played for.

I remember and he was a gud pro and team mate because he gave Perry 1.5 noogies after JT was eliminated 3 minutes into the playoffs.

It's why I'm nervous going into this year's deadline and I was really pushing for Nick at the time.

And I don't want to part with any more first rounders either.

On the positive side of this, Friedman just mentioned that the Leafs are not opposed to clearing cap space.

Then a package type deal, perhaps?

Fair enough.

Ours is really an outdoor bar - and I franking love hanging out at the bar, watching sports, drinking beer, eating meat.

- Atomic Wedgie

We did the same thing. Rebuilt our deck and moved it. Put outdoor couches, gas fire pit, tv and bar. Loved it. I was out there every night watching hockey but I’ll be honest once the leafs got eliminated it left a salty taste in mouth and I didn’t use it a whole lot after. Still used the couch and fire but didn’t use the tv a whole lot.

We built an addition that I did a lot of the work so I was to busy all summer working after work so I’m assuming this summer will be different. Or hoping anyways.

Questions for guys with smokers:

Do you use it enough to justify it? A couple of neighbours I talk to say they don't use theirs anymore.

Do you fully cook stuff in it, or just finish it off in the smoker? I've just started "doing my internet research", and it looks like you can make good ribs in six hours. Do you do things like steak and chicken in the smoker, or just throw them in at the very end?

You frankers got me so excited about BBQ season yesterday, I spent two hours this morning shovelling off the backyard deck and patio.

- Atomic Wedgie

Green egg bbq’s and smokes.
Just sayin 🤷🏼‍♂️

Clifford is playing

I think he has been as good as Ritchie has been....Hasn't done anything bad but throws some hits.

You want Clifford in at 1M over Ritchie at 2.5M.

- Santo_44

I understand the reasoning, because $$$, but I really don't want Clifford over Ritchie.

Ritchie hasn't played overly good but he's soo much better than Clifford.

Ah ya that's right but the media here was so terrible to Kessel

They really were. Kessel deserved better.

I'll double down and say that I sincerely believe that Clifford has been noticeably worse than Ritchie, but for what Ritchie is bringing, @ $1m, he's not bringing much more than Clifford.

To me the difference is that Ritchie has it in him to bring more than he is, but Clifford has nothing left other than the shell we see.

The games get tougher from here until the Cup is won. Guys like Ritchie have the opportunity step up and show what they have. I'm honestly hoping he does, because this is really his time to show why he's worth so much.

- Monkeypunk

Agreed.

Ritchie has proven that he's not worth his contract but Clifford has proven that he's not an NHL'er anymore.

I've been toying with the idea of getting a smoker. Couple of the things that have kept me from jumping in are the price of a quality smoker (I've read a bunch of reviews of bullet smokers etc. that say that the temp is hard to keep down). Also, and not sure if my paranoia is justified, but I'd like to keep it further into the backyard where I don't have electricity so the smoke isn't billowing into my neighbours' houses.
- TheMussel

All fair points, I ran an extension cord under my deck when we extended it and popped up the one end at the edge of very outside edge of the deck where my smoker is. I have a Traeger that my wife spoiled me with on fathers day a couple years ago and got a deal through a friend of ours on. I love it.

It has wifi functionality which is cool as you can adjust, check the temp of the unit itself or (if you use the probe) the meat without even opening it up which helps as anyone who is a big time smoker will tell you opening and closing the lid multiple times isn't ideal as you are losing heat and smoke aka "if your peakin' your leakin'!

As far as smoke billowing around and your neighbours.....all I know is when I fire it up most of mine just magically appear and ask what's being cooked with a bit of drool coming out the sides of their mouths hoping to be invited for a sample. lol

My buddy has his in his garage and fires open his garage door when he uses it - upside is never having to deal with rain or snow while smoking anything, minimize loss of temp when it's really cold out. Possible downside - his garage smells like smoked meat and will always smell that way along with everything in it including his hockey gear.

He and Burkie were gasoline and matches as well.

I still like The Thrill.

Dumb question to ask the player. Are you difficult to coach? Who would say anything but "I don't think so."

I am glad that quote of "He's such an idiot" lasts as a soundbite now.
