Nobody wants to realize why they got Ellis for what they did.
- MJL
I know what you're saying and you may end up being right. I just think it was a chance they needed to take while basically giving up nothing to get him(I doubt either Patrick or Myers end up being regular NHL players). Just saw on FB that Hayes is out another month. They need to shut him down for the rest of the year. Make Frost the #2 center for the rest of the year! He sinks or swims! If he sinks he goes bye bye too! Thanks!

Injury update: Flyers center Kevin Hayes underwent a procedure this morning to drain fluid from his adductor region. He is expected to return to play in 3-4 weeks.

- PLindbergh31

Sure and Morin is just dinged up a little. It’s (frank)ing malpractice if any doc gave the thumbs up to Hayes playing these last few weeks.

What the Flyers tried to do, reeks of incompetence. It's the equivalent of Charlie Brown trying to kick the ball while Lucy holds it. The Flyers are Charlie Brown and the rest of the league is Lucy. Other GM's are licking their chops. I bet Fletcher's phone was ringing off the hook.

Hey I said from day 1 it was stupid what they were doing. All they managed to do was push team back more years. They’ll never get it.

Time to face facts. This poop team will not win a championship in our lifetimes.

No, Hayes is not slow. He is an average skater and not slow by any means. He's slow now because he isn't healthy.
I completely disagree that any GM would make the Ellis trade. Know how I know that? Look at what Nashville got for a legitimate top pairing all situations RH defenseman. I'm not sure when that's going to sink in.
The narrative that Ristolainen is the Flyers best defenseman and one of the best defenseman in the league sure has faded.

- MJL

you just said it, Ellis is a legitimate top pairing all situations RHS defenseman, that is what makes the trade a no brainer! He will come back and be a big part of this club's future, mark my words. Look I just said hopefully Fletcher will trade Risto, what else do you want me to say?!

I posted this on yesterday's thread by mistake and so my venting didn't make me feel any better, so by popular request, here it is again. Ah, that feels better.

Flyers coaches and GM are "playing scared" and this slop you're seeing is the direct result.

It's why you're trading a 1st for Risto. It's why Frost is playing on the 4th line. It's why it took COVID to call up York. It's why Nate Thompson, Brassard and Keith Yandle are not only signed, but playing every game (you know AV would've had Nate in the lineup every night if he wasn't hurt). It's why you made a desperation move for an injury prone supposed #1 with 47 years left on his contract.

The ONLY solution that I can ever see POSSIBLY working (barring a blockbuster trade for a player that can actually play hockey gud), is if the goofs at Comcast hire a knowledgeable hockey President with some fresh ideas of how to build a competitive team in the 2020s AND allow him to hire a GM and a coach that are told up front they will have x years of job security to make an impact. That x has to be more than 1 year, btw. Guys can't be coaching and GMing scared to death of losing their jobs. Let the players know up front that the coach and GM will not be fired for x years and if the players can't perform, they will be moved out.

No more NMCs. No more contracts over 6 years unless it's Connor McDavid Jr. No more long term contract to anyone 30 or over. No trading 1st round picks unless it's for a stud, not an ok defenseman on an expiring contract. If you suck, so be it, but you better hit on your draft picks. No one on the current roster is untouchable if the deal is right. (Not even Hart, even though it pains me to say that after suffering through the Swiss cheese we've had in goal over the years.)

Guess what else? If there are any more fans left after this crap show season, we're going to have to deal with it. Again.

I have spoken.

exactly, the Flyers gave up nothing for Ellis. Even if Ellis was in a body cast I would make that trade!

Seriously, the medical staff really needs to be called into question at the way some of these injuries have played out this year. This really reeks of medical professionals that have their heads up their collective arses.

but will you ever give Fletcher credit if he does the right thing and has a good off season, I highly doubt it!

It wasn't a no brainer. When is that going to sink in? When are you going to realize that no other team was willing to beat the Flyers offer? We both know the reality of the Ristolainen situation. It's just another one of the debates between you and I that turned out the same way.

You seem to think my opinions are based on some whim or something rather than looking at things as objectively as I can. How many times do I have to wind up being right in debates between you and I?

Just saw that tonight the Flyers are giving beer steins out to fans at the game. I hope they hand them out as the fans are leaving the building. It could get ugly otherwise.

What did the flyers offer, two guys who will not even equal half of Ellis’s career accomplishments even if he nevers plays another game. Wake up clown
